Barcelona Self Catering Accommodation - Aparthotels

We have had many enquiries asking where to find Barcelona self catering residence in the city centre. You have two options open to you when you want self catering accommodation in Barcelona these are Aparthotels or Apartments.

On this page we focus on the Aparthotel option. Otherwise known as apartment hotels. We have taken the Citadines as an example of an Aparthotel in the heart of the city center

Barcelona self catering Option 1 - Aparthotels

An Aparthotel offers the convenience of a hotel with the all the advantages of an apartment. An aparthotel offers you small apartments that are housed inside a hotel. You have a fully functional kitchen with fridge, oven, microwave, grill, toaster etc to prepare and store food. You will also have your own lounge with TV and sofa and an en-suite bathroom. The lounge has additional beds that will enable one of these apartments to house up to four people. There are additional facilities for your children and babies available on request.

The Apart'hotel is perfect for families or for group accommodation. It also means you have someone at the check-in desk at all times to help you with any enquiries you may have or any other services that you may want.

Normally you will pay extra to have your room cleaned or if you want a change of linen.

One example of an Aparthotel in Barcelona is the Aparthotel Citadines on the Ramblas. This French-owned aparthotel is situated in the very heart of the city centre so you will have excellent access to all the main sites in the city.

The Citadines has installed double glazed windows for soundproofing. Double glazing is highly recommended if you want to stay in a hotel in the city centre. All of the Citadines rooms offer self catering facilities and you will have clean, comfortable accommodation at a reasonable price.

If you want to stay at the Citadines you can either book a room overlooking the Ramblas at the front of the hotel or, if you choose a room at the back, your room will overlook a small green square. The room at the back of the hotel will be quieter especially if your room is near the ground level. Three pieces of advice I would give you if you want to book your Barcelona self catering accommodation in an aparthotel - Book Early, Book Early, Book Early. Why? Because this type of accommodation is popular and Barcelona has an 80 - 85% average hotel fill ratio over the year. If you plan to come to Barcelona in the Summer and try to reserve your accommodation only a few weeks before you arrive, you will have almost no chance of securing the place you want. Aim to book as early as possible and preferably at least 2 to 3 months in advance.
