Site visitor Helen Clayton recently visited Barcelona with her husband who took a mobility buggy with him. Helen was delighted not only with the accessibility of the city for the disabled but also the help they received from the Spanish Taxi drivers and staff at museums and restaurants.

February 22, 2006 00:26 - Hotel at Girona Airport

If you are flying into Girona airport with one of the budget airlines like RyanAir you may be arriving late at night and it could be a little awkard to make your way to Barcelona city centre at such a late hour. One option may be to spend the night in Girona and then make your way to Barcelona the next day. If you do this you have 3 main options on where to stay.

You can stay at the hotel only a few minuets walk from Girona airport. Click here to read the Girona airport hotel article

Another option may be to stay at the Novetel that is only a few kilometers from Girona airport. The Novotel operate a shuttle bus service from Girona airport to their hotel, so be sure to ask for this when you make your booking. Click here to read the Novotel hotel near Girona Airport (2Km)

One final option would be to catch a taxi from Girona airport to Girona city centre and stay the night in Girona centre (30 mins taxi ride). You then have the added advantage of being able to make an early start to explore Girona the next morning. Click here for details of a hotel in Girona centre offering affordable accommodation.

If you don't catch the last Barcelona Bus to Barcelona centre then staying at one of the above hotels would provide you with the best option. The only other way would be to pay for a taxi to Barcelona, but since Barcelona is about 1 hour 20 mins away expect to pay around 140 Euros or more for the cab fare from Girona Airport to Barcelona centre.
