The big summer fiesta is just around the corner now the action starts on the night of the 23rd June in Barcelona. This is the celebration of John the Baptist and co-incides with the Summer solstice. The theme of the fiesta is cleansing and many elements are involved with this cleansing process including fire, water, and herbs - so expect to see a lot of these while you're walking around town! For a brief run down of events and to find out what is during this festival visit the Barcelona town council event page for Sant Joan. But before you go to the website take note that you won't be able to see any information on the page until you light the wick of the firework on their page. How? You have to first click your mouse on the image of Barcelona to activate the lighter. Then you have to touch the lighter at the right end to the wick of the firework. Then the rocket goes off and the information is revealed ! The town council have made it very interesting but a little difficult to access this information! We had some site visitors saying they could not access any information .... but they had not lit the touch paper!
