September 16, 2007 17:42 - Site Visitor Review of DUSK in Barri Gotic Quarter of Barcelona
Review sent in by: Mary Margaret Murphy, USA
Overview: Relaxed, laid-back lounge in the back with a more upbeat, faster-paced bar in the front.
Review: DUSK: CARRER MERCE 23.
Dusk is the quintessential chic gastropub inside centuries-old stone walls in Ciutat Vella/Barri Gotic (one block in from the 'Correos,' the Big Post Office at the end of Via Laietana). There's a sexy, upbeat bar in the front on Calle Merce, with a more relaxed lounge in the back. It's a perfect place to get a delicious bite to eat to start the night off, or to finish the night with funky music and a creative cocktail. An excellent value overall, which is refreshing in Barcelona--a great place to see contemporary Barcelona and escape the tourists, all the while getting a taste of both the old Gothic Quarter and the new, hip Barcelona. Look for specials--they frequently have happy hours or cocktail hours, and occasionally have live music. A GREAT place to chill out with friends or meet people.
