Camping In Barcelona Area - Nearest Campsites To Barcelona City Centre.

If you're looking to take a more relaxing trip to the city, or if you're simply looking for cheaper alternatives to hotels or apartments, it is worth considering camping in Barcelona.

In this guide, we have located the campsites closest to Barcelona city centre in order to make a camping trip a viable and stress-free option.

If you choose to embark on a camping trip to Barcelona, there are certain issues to consider when deciding where to stay which are:

  • Do you want to experience the Barcelona nightlife? You will need to check the running times for buses and trains. You will also need to check whether the campsite has a curfew.
  • Do you like a trek? You may find a campsite close to Barcelona, but it is worth finding out whether the transport links are close to the campsite. This is of particular consideration if you are considering returning to the campsite late at night.
  • Are you going to bring a car? This will be convenient when driving to the campsite but it will help to consider parking options in the city centre before you set off.

The two campsites that are closest to Barcelona are Camping Tres Estrellas in Gavá and camping Masnou. The campsite Camping Barcelona is slightly further away, but caters specifically for customers wishing to travel into Barcelona city centre. You will find reviews to all three of these campsites below.

Camping Tres Estrellas

Camping Tres Estrellas is situated in Gavá, 12km from Barcelona and on the way to Castelldefels. There are numerous buses, including a nightbus, that run from Castelldefels to Barcelona, passing through Gavá. The L94 and L95 run from Plaza Catalunya.

The bus station is 300 metres from the campsite. During the day, as there are numerous buses they run on a very regular basis. It will be worth asking for the bus timetable at the campsite reception desk as times will be subject to change.

The campsite offers a wide range of activities for days when you may choose not to venture into Barcelona. These include volleyball nets, flamenco shows, clowns and movies for children.

The amenities include two swimming pools, two restaurants, a bar, supermarket, souvenir shop and barbeque area. The campsite is situated on the beach. With all of this on site you may never leave to venture into Barcelona!

It is worth checking the website for rates (see below) as these are likely to vary from year to year.

Camping Masnou

Masnou is a small town 15 km north of Barcelona. El Masnou train station is in five minutes walking distance (300 metres) from the campsite, with trains leaving for Barcelona (Plaza de Catalunya) every ten minutes from 06:00 - 24:00. The train travels a short distance but stops at six other stations along the coast, meaning that the journey lasts approximately thirty five minutes.

There is also the N80 bus that will take you into Barcelona. It is available from Plaza de Catalunya hourly during the night. It runs from 01:15 until 04:15 and the journey lasts around 35 minutes. The bus will drop you outside the train station, ensuring that you are only five minutes away from your cosy tent!

You will find it difficult to locate much information about the campsite on the internet as they do not have their own website, however, if you call the number below with any questions, the staff are generally very helpful and can speak English.

The amenities are less extensive than those at Camping Tres Estrellas, but you will still find the standards- a pool, supermarket, showers, laundry area etc. This may be all that you need if the main focus of your trip will be sightseeing in Barcelona.

The campsite has impressive links to the city centre. It is also open all year round for the true camper who likes to brave the cold. And, contrary to popular belief, it does get cold in Barcelona in the winter!
