How Luggage Storage Facilities at Barcelona Airport Works

The system for luggage storage at Barcelona Airport is self-service. There is a member of staff manning the building, however they will simply undertake a security scan of your bags and answer any questions you may have about their service. The lockers themselves are coin operated.

It is important to note that it is not possible to pay for luggage storage by cash notes / credit card – you will need to have the correct amount of change. The machines do not give any change, so you will need to have the correct money in the form of coins to put into the machine. There are two change machines in the left luggage building, so you can ensure that you get the correct change from these.

The lockers are paid for by each 24 hours (or part of 24 hours). Once you have calculated how many days that you require and prepared the correct money, this should be placed in the yellow payment machines that are dotted between the rows of lockers. Once you have put in the minimum fee the door to your locker will lock shut.

When you are locking the door to your locker, it is important to be absolutely sure that you will not need to open it again before you re-open it and return to pick up your bag. If, for example, you have left your keys in the locker, you will have to open the locker and pay again to re-lock it.

Once the locker is locked the yellow payment station will produce a ticket with a code on it. It is important that you keep this ticket as it holds a code. This is a code that you will need to key into the system to un-lock the door to your locker when you wish to pick up your bags.

This all sounds rather complicated, but it is quite a simple process. If you are struggling with what to do, check the end of each row of lockers, where there is a poster of instructions in various languages. The staff at left luggage will also do all that they can to help you.

How Long Can I Leave my Bags at Luggage Storage at Barcelona Airport?

The minimum charge for left luggage is 24 hours. Bags can be left in a locker for a maximum of 1 month. If you have paid for less than one month, the machine will simply wait until you have provided the correct amount of money for the amount of time that the luggage has been in the locker. The locker will only open when the correct payment has been made.

The luggage storage building is located outside of the main terminals. It sits in front of the car parks across the road from the entrance to Terminal 2B. It is a concrete building with a sign saying ‘Consigna’.
