Guide to Transfer from Barcelona Airport to Cambrils

Cambrils is a Port Town in the Tarragona area of Catalunya. It is located approximately 20 kilometres south of Tarragona. A direct coach running from Barcelona Airport to Cambrils centre makes it an easy destination to reach.

This page covers the various options for transferring from Barcelona Airport to the centre of Cambrils. Options include train, coach, bus and taxi.

Transfer to Cambrils from Barcelona Airport by Train

Barcelona Airport Train Station
Barcelona Airport Train Station

There are no direct trains from Barcelona Airport to Cambrils. Therefore, it is necessary to take a train into the centre of Barcelona to head out towards the south of Catalunya.

Take the Barcelona Airport Train – The C2 to Estacio Sants (Barcelona Sants). At Estacio Sants you will need to change. There are many trains that run from Estacio Sants to Cambrils – some of these are regional and some of these are national. The trains vary in journey time, but in general the journey lasts around 1 hour 15 minutes – 1 hour 30 minutes. There is generally about one train every hour.

If you are arriving into Terminal 1 (T1) you will not be able to walk straight to the train station, as it is 4km away. You will need to take a shuttle bus from outside the terminal.

For more information on train times and prices check the Renfe website.

You will note, when checking the Renfe website, that there are quite large differences in ticket prices. Look for the regional trains (eg Regional Express and Catalunya Express), rather than the international ones (eg Talgo and Mare Nostrum), as these will prove to be approximately 10 euros cheaper.

Transfer to Cambrils from Barcelona Airport by Coach

There is a coach that goes from Barcelona Airport Terminal 2 (T2) to Cambrils. The Empresa Plana. The bus leaves from outside Terminal 2B. The bus times vary depending on the day of the week. From Monday to Friday there are five buses per day. On Saturdays there are three buses per day. On Sundays and Holidays there are four buses per day.

At time of writing (July 2009) there are no coaches that leave from Terminal 1 (T1). If you wish to catch the coach to Cambrils it will be necessary to take the free shuttle bus from T1 to T2 and get the coach from there.

For more information on timetables and ticket prices, check the Empresa Plana Webite. The website can be slightly complicated to navigate. From the home page click on ‘Bus Timetable’. From here you will be brought to a page with a ‘Route Search’ – key in ‘Cambrils’ here. You will be given a large list of rout options to choose from – choose the first route option from ‘Aeroport de Barcelona’ – the timetable will appear as a pdf document so you will need the free adobe acrobat reader to be able to read this document.

It is possible to reserve a ticket prior to your arrival at the airport.
