Guide to Transfer from Barcelona Airport to Girona
Page Content
Girona is a small city in the North East of Catalunya. It is located approximately 100 kilometres from Barcelona. Fortunately there is a coach that leaves directly from Barcelona Airport to Girona three times a day. If your flight does not coincide with any of these buses, you also have the option to catch a train - although you will first need to travel in to Barcelona to catch this.
This page covers the various options for transferring from Barcelona Airport Terminal 1 (T1) and Terminal 2 (T2) to the centre of Girona. Options include train, coach, bus, car and taxi. It is important to note that Girona has its own airport. However, this page will deal with transfer to the city of Girona itself, rather than the airport. For details on how to travel from Barcelona airport to Girona airport, see our Guide to Transfer from Barcelona Airport to Girona Airport.

Take the Barcelona Airport Train Guide to the Barcelona Airport Train - The C2 to Estacio Sants. At Estacio Sants you will need to change.
If you are arriving into Terminal 1 (T1) you will not be able to walk straight to the train station, as it is 4km away. You will need to take a shuttle bus from outside the terminal.
There are numerous trains travelling from Estacio Sants to Girona - approximately three every hour. On average the journey lasts about 1 hour 20 minutes. Check the Renfe Website for the train times.
It is worth travelling on the local trains rather than the national ones as the train tickets are cheaper - approximately €7.40 rather the €20.00. Look for trains with names such as Catalunya Express and Regional rather than Costa Brava and Talgo.

There is a coach that leaves directly from Barcelona Airport and goes to the centre of Girona - the Rápid aeroport Bus provided by the ALSA bus company.
The coach starts at T2 and continues on to T1 before heading to Girona. The journey lasts 1hour 50 minutes from T2 and 1 hour 35 minutes from T1. There are only three coaches that run each day - one in the morning, one in the afternoon and one in the late evening. It is possible to buy both a single and a return ticket - €21.85 and the return is approximately €39.40.
For information on exact times and prices, check the Official ALSA Website.
If you definitely want to catch the coach to Girona, it is worth booking your ticket in advance from the ALSA website (see above). As there are only three coaches each day, these are likely to get filled up very quickly.
