Guide to Transfer from Barcelona Airport to Salou

Salou is a tourist resort to the South of Barcelona. It is a short distance (10 kilometres) from the town of Tarragona. Despite its small size it offers a direct coach from Barcelona Airport – probably due to its popularity with tourists.

Transfer to Salou from Barcelona Airport by Train

Barcelona Sants Station

There are no direct trains from Barcelona Airport to Salou. Therefore, it is necessary to take a train into the centre of Barcelona to head out towards the south of Catalunya.

Take the Barcelona Airport Train – The C2 to Estacio Sants. If you are arriving into Terminal 1 (T1) you will not be able to walk straight to the train station, as it is 4km away. You will need to take a shuttle bus from outside the terminal.

At Estacio Sants you will need to change. There are an abundance of trains that run from Estacio Sants to Salou – some of these are regional and some of these are national. The trains vary in journey time – some stopping at many stations and some direct.

When looking at the various train options you will note that some are more expensive than others. The regional train tickets will work out cheaper than those that are long distance and international. Look out for the train that trvales to Port Aventura and on to Cambrils for a cheaper option.

Transfer to Salou from Barcelona Airport by Coach

There is a coach that goes from Barcelona Airport to Salou. The Empresa Plana.With the addition of the new T1 at Barcelona airport in June 2009, the coach now starts at T2 and continues on to T1 before heading to Salou. The bus times vary depending on the day of the week. From Monday to Friday there are five buses per day. On Saturdays there are three buses per day. On Sundays and Holidays there are four buses per day.

From here you will be broughtto a page with a ‘Route Search’ – key in ‘Salou’ here. You will be given a large list of rout options to choose from – choose the first route option from ‘Aeroport de Barcelona’ – the timetable will appear as a pdf document so you will need the free Adobe Acrobat reader to view this document which you can obtain free online at www.adobe.com.

Transfer to Salou from Barcelona Airport by Bus

The Aerobus

There is a direct coach from Barcelona Airport to Salou (see above). There is no TMB bus that runs from Barcelona to Salou. You can take the Aerobus - The Barcelona Airport Express Bus which has a stop at Plaza Espanya. From Plaza Espanya you can take the green line of the Metro two stops to Estacio Sants. From Estacio Sants you can take the train to Salou (see above for more details).

Transfer to Salou from Barcelona Airport by Taxi

The distance from Barcelona Airport to Salou is approximately 100 km. This will take about one hour twenty minutes to one hour in a taxi, costing around 90 euros.

Salou is a popular summer destination. If you are planning to head there straight from the airport you are most likely to want to catch the direct coach. During the summer months this will probably get booked up very quickly, so whilst you are making all of your holiday arrangements it will help to book your place on this bus. If you would prefer to spend some time in Barcelona city centre before heading to Salou, the trains are regular and travel from various Barcelona Stations (including Passeig de Gracia and Estacio Franca). Transfer from Barcelona Airport to Salou is simple and convenient.
