Guide to Transfer from Barcelona Airport to Sitges

Sitges is one of Catalunya’s most well-known beach towns. It is a great place to go for a day trip from Barcelona. It can also be reached easily directly from Barcelona Airport – a coach goes there directly on a regular basis each day.

There is also the option of a train – however, it will be necessary to go to the centre of Barcelona to catch a train back out to Sitges.

This page covers the various options for transferring from Barcelona Airport to the centre of Sitges. Options include train, coach, bus and taxi.

Transfer to Sitges from Barcelona Airport by Train

There are no direct trains from Barcelona Airport to Sitges. Therefore, it is necessary to take a train into the centre of Barcelona to head out towards the north of Catalunya.

Barcelona Sants Station

Take the Barcelona Airport Train The C2 to Estacio Sants. If you are arriving into Terminal 1 (T1) you will not be able to walk straight to the train station, as it is 4km away. You will need to take a shuttle bus from outside the terminal.

At Estacio Sants you will need to change. From Estacio Sants there are numerous trains to Sitges.

To find out the time of this train it is necessary to go to the local trains section of the Renfe website -Cercanías. The train that you will be catching is the C2. The journey lasts between 29 and 35 minutes. There are four trains every hour. If you plan on travelling a lot during your trip to Catalunya it is worth considering buying a T10 that covers zones 1 – 3. This will allow you to travel to Sitges and you will have nine more journeys for travelling by Metro or bus around the area.

Transfer to Sitges from Barcelona Airport by Coach

There are coaches that run directly from Barcelona Airport to Sitges. The MonBus runs from outside both Terminal 1 (T1) Terminal 2 (T2).

The Mon-Bus runs once per hour from Monday to Friday. On Saturdays the bus runs every two hours. On Sundays and Holidays they run four times per day. For details of the times and ticket prices of the Mon Bus check the Mon-Bus Website. Go to the ‘Timetable Searcher’ and key in ‘Aeroport’ to ‘Sitges’. The times provided will be either for Monday – Friday, Saturdays, Sundays or Nighttime.

The Mon-Bus runs into Zone 3 of the Barcelona transport system. Therefore, you may wish to consider buying a T10 that covers zones 1 – 3 (21 euros). This is a ticket that will allow you to travel for ten journeys on bus or metro between zone 1 and 3. This is useful if you plan to take multiple journeys between Sitges and Barcelona or if you will be spending lots of time in Barcelona city centre – each journey works out a lot cheaper with a T10 than if you were to pay for the journeys individually.

Transfer to Sitges from Barcelona Airport by Bus

There is no direct bus from Barcelona Airport to Sitges (see above for more details).

Transfer to Sitges from Barcelona Airport by Taxi

The distance from Barcelona Airport to Sitges is approximately 20 km. This will take about 30 minutes in a taxi, costing around 40 - 50 euros.

Sitges may be the only destination for your holiday. Alternatively it may form part of a larger tour of the area. If you are planning to tour the area you may wish to consider renting a car – particularly due to the fact that the winding coastal drive from Barcelona is beautiful. However, for a cheaper option, the coach directly from Barcelona Airport is regular and affordable.
