Guide to Transfer from Barcelona Airport to Girona Airport

Girona Airport is a small airport approximately 10 kilometres from Girona city centre. It is not very easy to travel between airports are there are no direct links. It will be necessary to travel into the centre of Girona and then use the transport links from there to Girona Airport.

Transfer to Girona Airport from Barcelona Airport by Train

There are no direct trains from Barcelona Airport to Girona Airport. Therefore, it is necessary to take a train into the centre of Barcelona to head out towards Girona. From the centre of Girona it will be necessary to take a bus or taxi to the airport.

Take the Barcelona Airport Train Guide to the Barcelona Airport Train – The C2 to Estacio Sants. If you are arriving into Terminal 1 (T1) you will not be able to walk straight to the train station, as it is 4km away. You will need to take a shuttle bus from outside the terminal.

At Estacio Sants you will need to change. There are numerous trains travelling from Estacio Sants to Girona – approximately three every hour. On average the journey lasts about 1 hour 20 minutes. Check the Renfe Website for the train times.

On arrival at Girona train station you can take a Sagales Coach from outside the train station to the airport. The buses run on an hourly basis from 04:30 until 00:30. Alternatively you can take a taxi to the airport. This will take approximately 20 minutes and will cost about 15 euros.

Transfer to Girona Airport from Barcelona Airport by Coach

There is no coach that goes directly from Barcelona Airport to Girona Airport. However, the Alsa Rápid Aeroport goes from outside Barcelona airport to Girona city centre. With the addition of the new T1 at Barcelona airport in June 2009, the coach now starts at T2 and continues ion to T1 before heading to Girona. The journey lasts 1hour 50 minutes from T2 and 1 hour 35 minutes from T1.

There are only three coaches that run each day – one in the morning, one in the afternoon and one in the late evening. It is possible to buy both a single and a return ticket – the single is approximately 20 euros and the return is approximately 35 euros.

Transfer to Girona Airport from Barcelona Airport by Bus

There is no direct bus from Barcelona Airport to Girona Airport. It is necessary to head towards the city centre and take a coach or train from there. The Aerobus Guide to the Aerobus - Barcelona Airport Express Bus travels to Plaza Espanya. From Plaza Espanya you can take the mtero two stops on the green line to Estacio Sants. From Estacio Sants you can take both the train and the coach to Girona (see above for more details). As mentioned above, once in Girona city centre, it will be necessary to take a taxi or a bus to the airport.

Transfer to Girona Airport from Barcelona Airport by Taxi

The distance from Barcelona Airport to Girona is approximately 90 km. This will take about one hour in a taxi, costing around 80 euros.

If there are a group of you travelling to Girona airport from Barcelona airport taxi transfer may be the simplest way to travel and is a viable alternative to taking the coach.

Travelling from Barcelona Airport to Girona Airport is quite complicated – the only direct option being either a taxi or a hire car. All other options will involve you changing at Girona city centre to head out to the airport. If you are choosing between the coach and the train to Girona city centre it is worth noting that the train is cheaper and more regular. However, the coach goes directly from Barcelona Airport, so you will not need to go into Barcelona City Centre to catch it.
