Many visitors to Barcelona think that the Aerobus (Express airport bus service) is the only bus option from Barcelona Airport to the city centre. However, Barcelona’s metropolitan bus service (TMB) also run buses during the day. During the night you can catch the Night bus N17 operated by MOHN.

The advantage of the Aerobus over the regular TMB bus is that it runs on a more regular basis, offers more luggage space and stops at fewer places on the way into Barcelona therefore reducing transfer times to and from the airport. However, the cost of the journey on the TMB or Night Bus are considerably cheaper than the Aerobus – a single journey costs 1.35 euros, compared to 4.25 euros on the Aerobus. The N17 Night Bus runs from Plaza Catalunya, via Plaza Espanya to Barcelona Airport.

Bus Prices for the Airport N17 Night Bus

Single Journey: 1.35 euros
T10: 7.70 euros (valid for ten journeys on Barcelona buses and metro) . The T10 is not available to purchase on the bus. At Barcelona airport you can buy them either at the airport tobacco shops or at the entrance to the RENFE train station at the airport. In Barcelona city centre they can also be bought at Metro stops

Journey Time for the Airport Night Bus N17

Of course, the journey time for the airport nightbus N17 will depend on traffic conditions, so you should allow for approximately 40 minutes if you are travelling to T2 and 55 minutes if you are travelling to T1. However, on a good day the bus can take around 25 minutes to T2 and 35 minutes to T1 from the city centre.

The Airport nightbus is fully accessible to wheelchair and scooter users. There is a ramp onto the bus and allocated space on the bus for wheelchairs and scooters.

The N17 Nightbus only provides the same space as with all other city centre buses. There is no overhead or luggage compartment space. This may cause difficulties if you are travelling with more than just hand luggage.

If you are travelling during the crossover period between the running times of the Number 46 TMB Airport Day Bus and the Airport Nightbus N17, it is important to remember that the Number 46 TMB Bus does not travel to and from Plaza Catalunya. Therefore, if you are not sure which bus you will be catching it may be a safer option to head straight to the stop at Plaza Espanya where both buses stop.
