Christmas Lights in Barcelona
With beautiful old buildings, narrow streets and numerous plazas, Barcelona is a great backdrop for Christmas light displays.
In general, when searching for Christmas lights it is best to head to the major shopping areas. However, sometimes it is also worth venturing further afield to find other interesting and creative Christmas light displays.

Main Christmas Light Displays
If you head to Plaza de Catalunya and the surrounding areas you will see some of Barcelona’s most impressive light displays. The Corte Ingles Department Store in the square is well-known for making an effort with its decorations on the store.
Running down the side of the Corte Ingles is the Ronda de Sant Pere. It is a smaller street than some of the others mentioned in this article, however, its lights are impressive.

| Hotel Majestic |
Large hotels such as Hotel Majestic on Passeig de Gracia also provide some classy light displays.
Portal de l’Angel, just off Plaza de Catalunya, is one of Barcelona’s most well-known shopping streets. Its light displays make for a cosy Christmas evening.

La Rambla has lights running all of the way down it. Each year the theme of the lights will vary, so you can have fun guessing what it might be this year.

Around the Mercat de Sant Antoni there are some impressive lights, some of which include the coat of arms of Cataluña.
Sustainable Energy Light Displays
In recent years Barcelona City Council have made an increasing effort to use lights that do nopt waste too much energy. They ofter use small L.E.D lights and store up solar energy in the day to power themselves at night.
