Q: We are going to be in Barcelona in July and we are Hilton Honour members. The only 2 Hilton properties I see are the Barcelona Hilton and the Hilton Diagonal Mar. Can you tell me which one is easiest for us to go to the Las Ramblas area and also to find our way for sightseeing in Barcelona.
A: Any hotel that is near a Metro will offer ready access to the sightseeing in Barcelona and you will generally only ever need 20 to 30 minutes travel time (on average) on the metro to get to many of the main attractions.
To answer your question on which Barcelona Hilton Hotel offers quicker access via metro to Las Ramblas the answer is probably the Barcelona Hilton. Although both Hilton hotels have a metro stop near the Barcelona Hilton has access to the Green Line, L3 metro from the stop Maria Cristina whilst the Hilton Diagonal Mar's nearest metro stop is a yellow line metro stop called Maresme Forum.
La Rambla has 3 metro stops along its length which are: Drassanes, Liceu and Catalunya. All of these stops are on the Green Line, L3 metro. Therefore if you got on the metro at Maria Cristina metro stop which is on the Green Line, L3 you could simply get off at any one of these stops without changing the metro line.
If however you are travelling on the yellow line metro from Hilton Diagonal Mar Hotel you would need to change at Passeig de Gràcia for the Green Line, L3, then you could get off at any of the Green Line, L3 stops on La Rambla. It is also worth noting there is a long underground walk between the Yellow Line, L4 and the Green Line, L3 at Passeig de Gràcia.
To see all the metro stops I recommend you take a look at our Barcelona Metro map below:
If you are interested in securely reserving your room at the Hilton I have provided the links below.
Many tourists confuse the two different Hilton hotels. The reason is that they are both associated with the word "Diagonal". The Barcelona Hilton is situated on a road called Avinguda Diagonal and the Barcelona Diagonal Mar has the word "Diagonal" in its name. Don't get confused!
