Q: We require to catch the Metro from the airport to Catalunya, do we need to change at Sants? Do you know what the current fare is please?
A: The Metro does not run to Barcelona airport however the RENFE train does. If you want to go to Catalunya station from the airport then you would catch the RENFE train from Barcelona airport and change at Passeig de Gràcia station for the Green Line metro to Catalunya station which is the next stop up.
If you are travelling from T2 of the airport, the train station is in easy walking distance. If you are travelling from T1 you will need to catch the free shuttle bus that travels between terminals.
The cost of a single ticket is €4.10 to Passeig de Gràcia station. You then need to purchase a Metro ticket, €2.15 and change at Passeig de Gràcia to go on the Green line metro to Catalunya station. Alternatively you can buy a T10 ticket that gives you 10 journeys on the Metro and is much more economical than buying single tickets. The T10 can also be used on the RENFE train from Barcelona Airport to Catalunya via Passeig do Gràcia.
If you do not wish to make any changes on the train then you can catch the Aerobus service (express airport bus service) that takes you from Barcelona airport to Catalunya station. The cost for the Aerobus service is €5.90 for both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
