Review 987 Barcelona Hotel, Barcelona

987 Barcelona Hotel
Reservation Information For The 987 Barcelona Hotel

987 Barcelona Hotel, Barcelona is a design hotel in a central Barcelona location. It is located within 5 minutes walk of popular areas such as Passeig de Gracia and Avenida Diagonal. However, it is located on a quiet street, allowing for tranquillity in a central location.

The hotel’s exterior is slightly uninviting and closed. The windows are covered and it is necessary to turn the handle on a large and heavy wrought iron door to enter into the lobby area. What lurks beneath is a welcome surprise. A large sheet of Perspex covering the inside of the front door causes a pink light to be cast throughout the lobby. Furry grey rugs cover the long and thin area. There are soft mauve swivel design chairs and low tables. Modern and minimalist chandeliers cut through the pink light. A stylish bar area can be glimpsed towards the left of the lobby, through sporadic slatted blinds.

Hotel Facilities:

There is no pool or gym in the hotel. However, the hotel is associated with a gym on Calle Bruc, within two minutes walking distance of the hotel. This allows customers of the hotel to use the gym for a reduced price of 6 euros per day.

There is a restaurant that serves all meals. Buffet breakfast costs 14 euros per person. It is served from 07:00 – 10:30 during the week and from 07:30 – 11:00 at weekends. At lunch times a set menu (‘Menu del Dia’) of three courses, drink and bread is available for 29 euros. There is also an a la carte menu. Lunch is served from 13.00 – 16:00. Dinner is a la carte and is served from 20:00 – 22:30.

There is also a bar next to the lobby area of the hotel. It is open from 07:00 – 24:00.

Room service is available from 07:00 – 24:00.

Pets are allowed in the hotel at the discretion of the hotel. This will depend on the size of the animal.

Day use rooms are available at 50% of the full room price.

Business Facilities:

There are two meeting rooms in the hotel. They hold a maximum of 40 people.

Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel free of charge. There is also one computer with internet available free of charge.

Facilities for the Disabled:

There are three rooms in the hotel that are suitable for wheelchair users. They have widened doors and adapted bathrooms. There are lifts to all floors.

Rooms:

There are a total of 88 rooms in the hotel, over 7 floors. Most of the rooms are either doubles or twins. However, there are three suites that hold a maximum of three people.

Ten of the rooms at the top of the building have terraces. There is double-glazing on all of the windows and the hotel is located on a quiet street. However, those hoping for a very peaceful night’s seep should request a room at the interior of the hotel.

Smoking is permitted in the rooms on the eighth floor. The rest of the hotel is non-smoking.

All rooms include air-conditioning, telephone, hairdryer, television and a mini-bar.

Hotel Location and Facilities:

987 Hotel is located centrally whilst remaining just outside of the very centre of touristic Barcelona. The area of Eixample has a large selection of restaurant and bar options. The hotel shares it’s building with ‘La Muscleria’ – a basement restaurant specialising in the classic ‘moules and frites’. The area is also home to many inviting cafés to while away a Sunday afternoon.

The hotel is a 10 minute walk from Passeig de Gracia. This is one of Barcelona’s most picturesque streets - it is dotted with old buildings and lined with ornate old street lamps. It is the home of some of Barcelona’s best shopping opportunities. The street boasts flagship stores for designers including Loewe, Gucci and Chanel. It is also the site of the famous design shop – Vinçon. This sprawling two-floor department store has a beautifully ornate interior and offers all things design including prints, ornaments and kitchen appliances.

At the bottom of Passeig de Gracia – a pleasant 10 minute walk past old buildings including some of Gaudi’s classics, is Plaza Catalunya. This large square sits at the top of the Ramblas – Barcelona’s famous pedestrianised street that is brimming with tourists and street entertainers. It is also a convenient place to find amenities such as internet cafés, bureaus de change, supermarkets and pharmacies.

How to Travel from the Airport to the Hotel:

Via Taxi: A taxi from the airport should take about 25 minutes and cost around 25 – 30 euros depending on traffic and luggage.

Via Train: The RENFE train leaves the airport every half an hour and will take you to Passeig de Gracia in 25 minutes. You can either use the T10 transport ticket from the airport (T10 costs 7.70 euros for 10 separate journeys on Barcelona public transport) or you can buy a single fare ticket for 2.80 euros. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the station.

Via Bus: Take the 'Aerobus' to Plaza Catalunya from directly outside the airport. The Aerobus generally runs every 10 - 15 minutes and the journey time is 30 minutes. A single will cost 4.25 euros. From Plaza Catalunya take the metro only one stop to Passeig de Gracia on the Green Line. From here the hotel is a 5 minute walk. Alternatively, if you have a lot of luggage, a taxi would take just 5 minutes and cost around 5 - 8 euros.
