AB Viladomat Hotel is located on a major road – Avenida Roma. This is a road that leads from Barcelona’s main station, Sants Estacio, to the centre of Barcelona. The hotel’s position on this busy road may not appeal to those hoping for a relaxing holiday. However, it is located very conveniently for those who require a close proximity to the station.

The hotel itself is large and inhabits a corner area, allowing for many external rooms. Steps lead to a small lobby area that sits next to the bar and restaurant section of the hotel. The hotel’s many windows allow light to enter the building, giving it an airy feel.

Hotel Facilities:

There is no pool or gym in the hotel. There is a restaurant on the ground floor that offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. A buffet breakfast is available from 07:00 – 10:30. It costs 12.50 euros (plus tax) per person. At lunchtime a set menu (‘Menu del Dia’) is available. This is served from 13:00 – 16:00 and costs 12.95euros (including tax) per person. The dinner menu is a la carte.

Rooms:

There are a total of 81 rooms in the hotel, over 7 floors. All of the rooms are doubles, twins or triples. The best views of the city are from the front facing rooms on the higher floors. There are no balconies available in any of the rooms. Those who require an especially quiet room should request one at the interior of the hotel. This is especially important due to the hotel’s location on a major road.

All rooms include air-conditioning, satellite television, telephone, hairdryer, safe and mini-bar.

There are two floors of the hotel where smoking is permitted. Smoking is not permitted anywhere else in the hotel, including the bar.

AB Viladomat Hotel is located a five minute walk from Sants Estacio train station. This makes travel to and from Barcelona airport very simple. This train station is also the home of the hotel’s nearest Metro link. This ensures that most of Barcelona is easily accessible via the underground system.

The hotel is approximately ten minutes walk from Gran Via Cortes Catalanes. Where Calle Viladomat meets this major road, it is possible to find Casa Golferichs. This is a Gaudi-esque building, designed by one of his followers. It is a civic centre, but the exterior alone is worth a look – wooden arches, colourful tiles and a palm tree make it stand out from the more modern buildings on the strip.

The hotel is located a fifteen minute walk from Plaza Espanya. This is the home of the Fira de Barcelona conference centre. Many guests of the hotel are likely to be attending conventions at the centre.

How to Travel from the Airport to the Hotel:

Via Taxi: A taxi from the airport should take about 25 minutes and cost around 25 – 30 euros depending on traffic and luggage.

Via Train: The RENFE train leaves the airport every half an hour and will take you to Sants Station in 25 minutes. You can either use the T10 transport ticket from the airport (T10 costs 7.70 euros for 10 separate journeys on Barcelona public transport) or you can buy a single fare ticket for 2.80 euros. Your hotel is then 15 - 20 minutes walk from the station. Alternatively, you can take a taxi that will take 5 – 10 minutes and cost 5 – 8 euros.

Via Bus: Take the 'Aerobus' to Plaza de Catalunya from directly outside the airport. The Aerobus generally runs every 10 - 15 minutes and the journey time is 30 minutes. The hotel is not in walking distance of the hotel with luggage. If you take a taxi it will take 10 - 15 minutes and cost around 8 - 10 euros. Alternatively, you can catch the Metro from Plaza de Catalunya to Urgell on the Red Line, from here the hotel is a 15 – 20 minute walk.
