Review AC Diplomatic Hotel Barcelona

AC Diplomatic Hotel
Reservation Information For The AC Diplomatic Hotel

AC Diplomatic Hotel is located in the heart of Eixample – Barcelona’s most affluent district. It is conveniently close to the most popular tourist attractions, whilst being situated in a pleasant and quiet street. The hotel’s exterior is modern with glass canopies, no balconies and thin grey silk sheets covering the many windows. The lobby area is very large with various areas to sit and relax. Low lighting, dark wood and leather couches provide a slick feel to the space.

The hotel provides impressive amenities including a pool, gym and restaurant.

Hotel Facilities:

There is an outdoor pool on the 8th floor roof of the hotel. It is small and clover shaped. It is unheated but is available all year round. It is open from 07:00 – 23:00. There is also a fitness centre on the roof of hotel. It is open the same hours as the pool and offers weights, running machines and cycling machines.

There is a restaurant serving food throughout the day. Buffet breakfast costs 24 euros and is served from 07:00 – 11:00. At lunch a set menu is available for 30 euros per person – this consists of three courses plus bread and drinks.

There is also a bar in the lobby area of the hotel that is open from 12:00 – 02:00. It offers snacks such as sandwiches.

Rooms:

There are a total of 211 rooms in the hotel over 10 floors. The rooms available are twins, doubles and triples.

The rooms all have double-glazed windows. However, those requiring a quiet nights sleep should request the rooms on the highest floors at the interior of the hotel. 24 of the rooms have their own private terraces. These cost the same price as the other rooms so it is worth asking for these when booking.

All rooms include air conditioning, a hairdryer, a safe, a television with satellite, a telephone and a mini-bar.

Smoking is permitted on the second and third floors of the hotel.

Hotel Location and Facilities:

The hotel is located 10 minutes walk from Gran Via Corts Catalanes. This large road links Plaza Universitat to Plaza Espanya. If you are interested in taking an afternoon stroll it will probably take you just over half an hour to walk between the two squares. The street itself has its share of nice cafés and buildings. Plaza Universitat is the home of Barcelona’s old University buildings. Plaza Espanya is also where you will find Barcelona’s palace.

The hotel is a five-minute walk from Passeig de Gracia. This is one of Barcelona’s most prized gems. The wide street is lined with old and decorative streetlamps and the pavement is covered in Gaudi inspired stones. It is also the home of two of Gaudi’s most famous buildings – Casa Batlló and La Pedrera. Casa Batlló is the smaller of the two. It has a large sculpture of a dragon’s tail on the roof and its façade is dotted with ornate balconies. La Pedrera has a sea theme running throughout. Its iconic spiral staircase can be seen on posters and postcards throughout Barcelona.

The hotel is a 5 minute walk from Plaza Catalunya. This is the square that sits at the top of the Ramblas. This is where you will find many useful amenities, such as internet cafés, bureaus de change, supermarkets and pharmacies.

How to Travel from the Airport to the Hotel:

Via Taxi: A taxi from the airport should take about 25 minutes and cost around 25 – 30 euros depending on traffic and luggage.

Via Train: The RENFE train leaves the airport every half an hour and will take you to Passeig de Gracia in 25 minutes. You can either use the T10 transport ticket from the airport (T10 costs 7.70 euros for 10 separate journeys on Barcelona public transport) or you can buy a single fare ticket for 2.80 euros. The hotel is a 3 minute walk from the station.

Via Bus: Take the 'Aerobus' to Plaza Catalunya from directly outside the airport. The Aerobus generally runs every 10 - 15 minutes and the journey time is 30 minutes. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from Plaza Catalunya. Alternatively you can catch the Green Line metro at Plaza Catalunya to Passeig de Gracia - from here the hotel is a 3 minute walk. You could also take a short 2 minute taxi ride if you have a lot of baggage, this will cost around 5 euros.
