The Balmes Hotel Barcelona is another hotel in the impressive Derby Group that is well-known for smart, well-designed hotels. The Balmes, has an excellent location, very near both Passeig de Gràcia, lined with designer shops and architecturally stunning buildings, and leafy, café- filled Rambla de Catalunya. The hotel is quite elegant, with African masks and tribal textiles filling the lobby, and a pool outside.

Next to the lobby area is a bar and the "Bal" coffee shop. The hotel has a Mediterranean restaurant, "Balmes", which is spacious and light. There is parking, a laundry and an ironing service. Dogs are allowed in the hotel. However the best thing about the hotel is the outside garden, with a terrace seating area and a swimming pool which is lovely in the summer and very much a bonus in a 3 Star hotel. There is also a computer in the reception area for the guests to use the internet and Wi-Fi. If needed the hotel also has a courtesy smart car for its guests.

The 100 rooms have all been sound-proofed and have parquet flooring. Room service is available and there is a minibar. If you are in Barcelona on business then you may be interested to know that there is an office shop next door to the hotel which deals with faxes, photocopies and printing. Next to that is a restaurant and then on the corner stands a bank. On the opposite corner, at the crossroads of Balmes and Mallorca there is a pharmacy and a newsagents. The nearest metro stop is on the shopping haven of Passeig de Gràcia, though you can easily walk to most sights of interest. For example Las Ramblas is a 10 minutes walk away at the most.

Public transport transfer options

Via Taxi: A taxi from the airport will take about 25 minutes and cost around  €25.00  - €30.00 depending on traffic and luggage.

Via Train: The RENFE train leaves the airport every half an hour and will take you to Passeig de Gràcia Station , in about 25 minutes and costs €3.80  for a single ticket. Your hotel is a short 8 minute walk from the station.

Via Bus The Aerobus will also take you from the Airport to Catalunya station and costs €5.75. The journey time is around 30 minutes. From Catalunya you need to catch the Green Line Metro to Passeig de Gràcia.
