Review Catalonia Albinoni Hotel Barcelona

Catalonia Albinoni Hotel
Reservation Information For The Catalonia Albinoni Hotel

Catalonia Albinoni Hotel is located directly on one of Barcelona’s busiest shopping streets- Portal de l’Angel. This gives the hotel an exciting appeal for those in search of action, as it is at the very heart of the hustle bustle of town. However, on the same note, it is not a wise option for those who like to use their hotel as an opportunity to take a break away from the fast pace of city life.

Its doorway is relatively inconspicuous, giving little clue to the grandeur that lies beneath. The hotel offers an outdoor terrace area with a pool, garden and restaurant.
The hotel is suitable for families, offering rooms for 4 people - an asset not often found in a hotel with such a central location.

Hotel Facilities:

Catalonia Albinoni Hotel offers a terrace area on the ground floor at the back of the hotel. The terrace comprises a bar, seating area and pool. The terrace is open all year round, however the pool only opens for the summer months (June, July and August), as it is not heated. The pool is small (7.5 metres long by 3 metres wide). The hotel does not have a gym.

The hotel resturant is called ‘El Jardi de l’Angel’ and sits alongside the pool, with outdoor seating on the terrace. Buffet breakfast (American and continental) is served here from 07:30 - 10:30 on weekdays and from 07:30 – 11:00 at weekends. Both hot and cold food is available and it costs 15 euros per person. Lunch and dinner are also available in this restaurant, with an a la carte menu.

There is a bar in the restaurant area. It is open from 11:00 – 01:00.

Pets are not allowed in the hotel.

In-keeping with the hotel’s focus on being family-friendly, with family size rooms, there is a baby-sitting service on request.

Business Facilities:

The hotel has no meeting or conference rooms, however, the restaurant has a capacity of 50 people and can be used for business conventions or banquets. There is free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. There is also a coin-operated computer close to the lobby area with internet access. It costs 2 euros for 10 minutes.

Facilities for the Disabled:

There are 2 rooms in the hotel that have been adapted for wheelchair use. They have widened doors and a special shower. There is also a disabled toilet on the ground floor of the hotel.

Rooms:

There are a total of 84 rooms in the hotel across 4 floors. Rooms on offer are Standard (which can be a double or a double for single use), Superior (also for two people), Triples or Four person.

Rooms offer either; views of the city or views of the garden and terrace area. The Superior rooms offer garden views and have balconies.

Two floors of the hotel are smoking. The bar area is also smoking. Everywhere else in the building smoking is not permitted.

Check-in time at the hotel is 14:00 and check-out time is 12:00.

There is no option for short stay rooms in the hotel.

Catalonia Albinoni Hotel is located directly on Avenida Portal de l’Angel. This is one of Barcelona’s busiest shopping streets and is the home of many of the major chains, including Zara, Mango, H&M and the popular department store, El Corte Ingles. For those who are looking to do some serious shopping in Barcelona, across the Plaza de Catalunya, on Passeig de Gracia there are more shopping opportunities, with many major designers’ flagship Spanish stores on this strip.

Barcelona’s Cathedral
Barcelona’s Cathedral

It is also very close to the Cathedral square, where the large and impressive cathedral should not be missed.

Beyond Plaza de Catalunya you will also find one of Barcelona’s less explored areas- Gracia. This is a great spot for terraces and cafés. It is also popular for its small and independent bars. One of the most popular restaurants in the area is Flash Flash on Carrer Granada del Penedés. This is a great place to stop after a day of serious shopping to take a peek at the stylish and trendy of Barcelona. It originates from the sixties and still maintains a very sixties feel. The walls are painted bright white and are covered in silhouettes of Twiggy style characters. Seating is in white banquettes, where you will be served by old Spanish waiters in crisp white shirts and black waistcoats. The restaurant is known as a ‘tortilleria’ as it sells over sixty varieties of the Spanish tortilla- an omelette.  A personal favourite is the omelette containing bread, tomatoes and cheese. It shouldn’t work, but it definitely does!

The hotel is also less than a five-minute walk from the Ramblas. Here you will find any necessary amenities, including banks, a supermarket, pharmacies, cash machines and internet cafés.

How to Travel from the Airport to the Hotel:

Via Taxi: A taxi from the airport should take about 25 minutes and cost around 25 – 30 euros depending on traffic and luggage.

Via Train: The RENFE train leaves the airport every half an hour and
will take you to Passeig de Gracia in 25 minutes. You can either use the
T10 transport ticket from the airport (T10 costs 7.70 euros for 10
separate journeys on Barcelona public transport) or you can buy a single
fare ticket for 2.80 euros. You then change at Passeig de Gracia onto
the Green Line metro and travel one stop to Catalunya. Your hotel is
then a few minutes walk from the metro.

Via Bus: Take the 'Aerobus ' to Plaza de Catalunya from directly outside the airport. The Aerobus generally runs every 10- 15 minutes and the journey time is 30 minutes. The hotel is 5 minutes walk from Plaza de Catalunya.
