From the exterior the hotel has an old charm - faded and flaking Roman style paintings adorn the walls. They sit awkwardly alongside the modern hotel entrance door. The hotel's lobby is large and round. Rotating doors lead to a ramp way that carries customers to the front desk. There is a lounge area to the right of the door where soft chairs in pinks and browns provide a welcoming resting place. The soft lines of the area continue with a semi-circle front desk. Large windows and high ceilings ensure that the area is light and airy.
The hotel is situated reasonably centrally whilst maintaining a peaceful air in a quiet and leafy area. Local areas such as Passeig de Gràcia and Plaza Catalunya are a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Catalonia Berna Hotel Barcelona is a large 4 star hotel with amenities that are focused more on business than relaxation - there is no pool, gym or spa. Its location is attractive, as it is central whilst remaining in a peaceful area. Its prices may not appeal to those simply looking to rest a weary tourist head.
