Review Catalonia Hotel Barcelona
It is easy to spot the Catalonia hotel Barcelona Plaza, towering
over pretty Placa Espanya, with views over to the beautiful Palau
Nacional which is the museum of Catalan art, and with a large clock
on it’s façade. Views of the colourful magic fountain
of Montjuic from your hotel window is one feature that makes this
hotel unique. The excellent location, in a historic area with good
transport into the centre of the city, makes this hotel very popular
with tourist and business clients.
Hotel Facilities
Gourmet Plaza is the Catalonia Plaza restaurant, and there is also
a café called La Oca and a sultry black upholstered Piano
Bar where you can enjoy live music and a cocktail every night. The
buffet breakfast includes food for those on special diets. There
is a heated pool on a roof terrace which is heated so there’s
no excuse even in winter. Near the pool there is also a gym, a sauna
and massages are available at a price. The Catalonia hotel plaza
also has parking facilities There are computers with internet in
the lobby and Wi-Fi all over the hotel. The hotel will also help
you rent a car for a special rate if you want.
Business Facilities at Catalonia Hotel Barcelona Plaza
The conference centre comprises of 9 rooms which can be arrange
to suit any occasion. The largest is 610 metres squared and has
a maximum capacity of 700 people. The hotel will hire out any audiovisual
equipment you might need. The reception has a fax service as well,
and the hotel offers a babysitting service if you need a night off.
Rooms
The Catalonia Hotel Barcelona Plaza has 338 standard rooms and
8 suites that have the advantage of a lounge area and a round bathtub!
The rooms all have air-conditioning and heating, a minibar, room
service, satellite TV as well as canal plus and pay per view movies.
There is also a safe and some of the rooms have amazing views over
Placa Espanya towards Montjuic. The bathrooms are marble and have
a hairdryer.
Hotel Location and Facilities
The location of the Catalonia hotel Barcelona Plaza is very good,
just out of the centre of town but very well connected to the centre
and all the sight-seeing spots. The Placa Espanya metro stop is
on the doorstep of the hotel and will take you to La Rambla in less
than 10 minutes. Closer to home you have Palau Nacional in front
of which are the Magic Fountain which is a must-see spectacle. Just
to the side of the fountain, a 10 minute walk away there is the
Mies Van de Rohe Pavilion which is interesting for those who like
architecture, and a bit further up there is Poble Espanyol. This
was built in 1929 and is a small village with styles of architecture
to represent all the different parts of Spain. Under the hotel there
is a cash point which is accessible from inside the hotel and out.
On the other side there is a travel agency. If you go up either
of the roads on the side of the hotel you will find newsagents and
restaurants. Sants station is also a 15 minute walk away, and from
there, there are direct trains to the airport or out of town places
like Sitges.
How to travel from the airport to the hotel
Via Taxi A taxi from the airport should take about
25 minutes and cost around 25 - 30 euros depending on traffic and
luggage.
Via Train The RENFE train leaves the airport every
half an hour and will take you to Barcelona Sants (Estacio de Sants)
, in about 25 mins and costs 2.60 Euros for a single ticket. Then
change at Sants for the Green line Metro and get off at Espanya.
The hotel is about 2 mins walk from the metro.
Via Bus You could take the Aerobus cost 4.05 Euros
from the Airport and get off at Placa Espanya from here you have
a 2 minute walk to the hotel

In a Nutshell
A great location for entertainment and proximity to the centre
and stunning views are the biggest selling points of this 4 star
hotel. The hotel is comfortable, has good facilities and is a great
base from which to enjoy all that Barcelona has to offer.
