Catalonia Roma Hotel Barcelona is situated on a main road that is lined with offices and business hotels. It is a 5 minute walk from Barcelona’s main train station – Estació Sants. The area is not particularly popular amongst tourists and many of the main tourist attractions are not in walking distance of the hotel.

The hotel lobby is surprisingly grand for a 3 star hotel. There are black and brown stripy couches, a marble floor and glass cabinets containing large ornate vases. Classical music is piped into the lobby and the front desk sits behind the comfortable seating area.

Hotel Facilities:

There is no pool or gym in the hotel. There is a restaurant serving breakfast and dinner. Buffet breakfast is served for 12 euros (plus tax). It is served from 7:00 – 10:30 each day. There is a bar that is open from 08:30 – 1:30 and then from 19:00 – 10:30.

Room service is available until 22:00.

No pets are allowed in the hotel.

Check-in time is at 14:00 and check-out time is at 12:00.

Business Facilities:

There are two meeting rooms available in the hotel. Each has a capacity of approximately 20 people.

Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel and is free of charge. There are no computers available with internet access.

Facilities for the Disabled:

Unfortunately there are no rooms available in the hotel that are suitable for wheelchair users.

Rooms:

There are a total of 49 rooms in the hotel over 6 floors. The rooms available are twins or doubles. It is possible to add an extra bed to some of the rooms at an extra cost of 30 euros (plus tax).

All rooms have double-glazing. However, it is worth noting that the hotel is located on a major road. Therefore, those requiring a quiet nights sleep should request the rooms on the highest floors at the interior of the hotel.

All rooms include air conditioning, a safe, a telephone, a television with satellite and a mini-bar.

Two of the rooms on each floor are smoking. The rest of the hotel is non-smoking.

Estació Sants

Catalonia Abbot Hotel is a 5 minute walk from Estació Sants – Barcelona’s largest station. This is convenient for travelers coming from Barcelona Airport, as the train route into the city includes a stop at Sants. Those wishing to make day trips out of the city may also be pleased with the close proximity to the station.

The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the Parc Joan Miró. This is a city park that is home to Miró’s famous statue – Woman with a Bird. The park is large with sandy floors and lots of palm trees. It also has a children’s play area and a building housing a library.

The hotel is a 15 - 20 minute walk to Plaza Espanya. This is the home of the Fira de Barcelona – one of Barcelona’s largest convention centres. For many this is a reason to go to Barcelona as it hosts large conventions on a regular basis.

The hotel is a 15 minute walk from Gran Via Corts Catalanes. This is a large road that leads from Plaza Espanya to Plaza Universitat. It is the home of some interesting shops, such as the Altair travel bookshop. It is also the home of Barcelona’s famous bakery – Escriba.

The hotel’s nearest metro station is in Estació Sants. This is useful for those who wish to get to Barcelona’s tourist centre without walking.

How to Travel from the Airport to the Hotel:

Via Taxi: A taxi from the airport should take about 25 minutes and cost around 25 – 30 euros depending on traffic and luggage.

Via Train: The RENFE train leaves the airport every half an hour and will take you to Estació Sants in 25 minutes. You can either use the T10 transport ticket from the airport (T10 costs 7.70 euros for 10 separate journeys on Barcelona public transport) or you can buy a single fare ticket for 2.80 euros. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the station.

Via Bus: Take the 'Aerobus ' to Plaza Catalunya from directly outside the airport. The Aerobus generally runs every 10 - 15 minutes and the journey time is 30 minutes. From Plaza Catalunya take the metro on the Green Line to Estació Sants, from here the hotel is a 5 minute walk.
