Review Sallés Hotel Ciutat del Prat Near Barcelona Airport

Sallés Hotel Ciutat del Prat
Reservation Information For The Sallés Hotel Ciutat del Prat

Sallés Hotel Ciutat del Prat is a four star hotel located a ten minute taxi journey from Barcelona Airport, in the centre of El Prat de Llobregat. The area is made up largely of businesses and offers little of interest from a tourist’s perspective. However Barcelona is accessible by train within 30 minutes.

The hotel staff are warm and helpful in answering my questions. The hotel itself has a more local and classically Spanish feel than other hotels located in the airport area – this is achieved through homely bedrooms, with floral bedding, bright colours and antique-style furniture. The communal areas such as the lobby and bar have a twenties feel to them with crystal chandeliers, marble flooring and ornate lampshades.

We met with the hotel’s Sales Executive, Carlos Romero, for a tour of the hotel. He also answered some of our questions:

Hotel facilities?

  1. Do you have a pool?
  2. Yes, there is a pool inside the hotel, on the sixth floor. It is available to all customers at no extra cost. Its dimensions are 5 metres by 6 metres and it is 1 metre deep. It is heated and open all year round, from 10:00 – 19:00. It is covered by a glass roof, but this roof opens up in the summer, creating an open – air pool.

Next to the pool there is also a sauna and a changing room area.

  3. What facilities do you have at the hotel for tenants wishing to keep fit?
  4. Yes, we do a have a small gym. It is open from 09:00 – 21:00 and is available to all hotel customers. Equipment on offer includes a running machine, a cycling machine and weights.

  5. Hotel restaurant
  6. We have two eating areas in the hotel. One is a larger area where buffet breakfast is served. Both hot and cold food is available. Hotel customers can pay extra when booking to include a breakfast option. Alternatively, if they choose to pay for breakfast having already booked their room it costs 15 euros.

We also have a separate restaurant with an a la carte menu, serving lunch and dinner. It serves traditionally Spanish food.  A three-course menu is also on offer for 25.86 euros (including VAT) per head.

  7. Hotel Bar
  8. We have a small bar in the lobby area of the restaurant.

  9. Terraces for the rooms?
  10. No, there is no hotel terrace area.

Business facilities

There are 3 rooms in the hotel that are designated meeting/conference areas. Also, the area that is used to serve the buffet breakfast can be used as a meeting room once the breakfast period is over. 2 of the rooms have a capacity of 70 – 80 people. One of these has natural light. The breakfast room also holds a similar amount of people. The smaller room holds 15 – 20 people. All rooms are air – conditioned.

On the same floor as the 3 meeting rooms, there is a reception area, where teas and coffees can be served as part of meeting sessions.

There is Wi-Fi available at no extra cost throughout the hotel. There are also two computers available for use in the lobby area of the hotel. These are coin – operated.

Disabled Facilities

There are 2 rooms in the hotel that have been adapted for wheelchair use. The door to the room has not been widened, however the internal doors are widened. There are rails next to both the toilet and the shower. There are also lifts to all floors.

Unfortunately, the swimming pool does not have a special lifting chair.

Hotel Rooms

The hotel contains a total of 130 rooms over 6 floors. All rooms are either double or twin and are not categorised differently. The hotel is positioned in such a way that planes do not fly overhead the hotel. The windows are also double – glazed. There is, therefore, no problem with noise pollution in the rooms.

All rooms provide exterior windows. Some have views of the mountains. If customers would like one of these rooms they should request it when booking.

All rooms contain a television, air-conditioning, a safe, a telephone, an iron and ironing board and a mini-bar containing free soft drinks.

Room service is available until 00:00.

  1. Check-in and Check– Out Times For the Hotel
  2. Both check-in and check-out time is at 12:00. However, the hotel is flexible where possible with this.

  3. What is the hotel’s smoking policy?
  4. The hotel is a non-smoking area. However, there are 10 rooms within the hotel that are designated for smoking. These must be requested when booking.

  5. Are pets allowed in the hotel?
  6. No, we do not allow pets in the hotel.

  7. Does the hotel offer a short – stay option?
  8. Yes, as the hotel is located close to Barcelona airport there are often people who are interested in the short stay options who are awaiting connecting flights etc. We do offer this option at a reduced rate. However, it is subject to availability.

  9. What type of groups primarily does the hotel caters for specifically? eg business people, families, couples?
  10. The hotel caters very much for business people. We have a lot of local businesses in the area and are also located close to the airport. We therefore cater largely for those on business trips or those in need of a place to stay due to a stopover flight.
