Review Cram Hotel Barcelona
On a corner in the fashionable and beautiful area of Eixample sits Cram Hotel Barcelona , an icon of design to some, pretentious to others. Whatever you may think of the hotel there is no doubt that they were brave in their choice of painting most of the lobby in black, giving a stark contrast not only to the 1892 façade of the building, but the flashes of red and the glowing aquarium also in the lobby. The striking colour use and design gives the hotel a sultry, oriental feel from the moment you walk through the sliding doors.
Hotel Facilities
On the 7th floor of the hotel there is an outdoor swimming pool and a pool bar. The hotel doesn’t have a gym but there is a Holmes Place fitness centre nearby which the guests have free use of. The hotel’s lobby bar looks very relaxing with low, wide sofas and dimmed lighting. The restaurant is called Gaig and has been awarded one Michelin Star for its take on Catalan cuisine. The hotel also offers a laundry and ironing service, and there is a luggage room.

There are a couple of rooms adapted for the disabled. The rooms have all been equipped with designer lighting, which you can set to different moods i.e. fiesta. The rooms at the Cram Hotel also feature a 32 inch LCD TV, Wi-Fi and internet connection, a digital minibar and the bathroom has a hairdryer, slippers and robe. Most rooms also have a small balcony looking out over the street below.
Hotel Location and Facilities
The Cram Hotel Barcelona is located on the wide, up market street Aribau which is lined with historic buildings and trendy shops and bars. There is a bank right opposite the hotel and a pharmacy on the opposing corner. If you walk for 2 minutes in any direction you will come across a small supermarket. The nearest metro stop is Universitat in the Placa just at the bottom of Aribau, a 5 minute walk away. Placa Catalunya and Las Ramblas are a further 5 minutes walk from there. To get Passeig de Gracia just turn right out of the hotel and keep going for 10 minutes. However if you do just want a bit of a wander, there is no better place than Eixample itself, for the architecture and tranquility of the whole area.

In a Nutshell
The bold design of the Cram Hotel Barcelona has attracted controversy, however there are always those who will love it and I am one of them. A designer hotel in a nice neighbourhood, a welcome hotel to escape to after a long day.
