Review Eurostars BCN Design Hotel, Barcelona
Eurostars BCN Design Hotel, Barcelona is located on one of Barcelona’s busiest and most famous streets – Passeig de Gracia. This street sits at the very heart of the city’s touristic centre. It is a hub of both shopping and culture. It is also a hive of activity – a characteristic that will appeal to some but not to others.
From the exterior of Eurostars BCN Design Hotel few will be aware of the grand 5 star luxury that lies beneath. The entrance is simply a small door sandwiched between two of the street’s many shops. A tiny reception area proves to be a pre-reception area, when guests are welcomed and directed to the lobby on the first floor of the hotel. On exiting the lift you will find yourself in a relaxed and stylish paradise – a strange transition from the bustling street outside. The front desk is immediately in front of you, where staff are friendly, professional and efficient – in true 5 star hotel style. To the left there is bright and open restaurant and bar area with large arty black and white photos on the walls and distinctive patterned design chairs.
Those who have an interest in luxury design hotels may wish to stay in one of the much-coveted suites. There are only two in the entire hotel; so booking should be done well in advance.
Hotel Facilities:
There is no pool in the hotel. However, there is a Jacuzzi on the hotel’s seventh floor roof terrace. There is also a gym in the hotel – offering weights, running machines and cycling machines.

Rooms:
There are a total of 69 rooms in the hotel, over 6 floors. Most of the rooms are doubles. However, there are two suites that hold a maximum of four people. The suites have their own private terrace areas.
There is double-glazing on all of the windows. However the hotel is located on a very bust street, so those hoping for a very peaceful night’s seep should request a room at the interior of the hotel.
Smoking is permitted in the rooms on the third floor. The rest of the hotel is non-smoking.
All rooms include air-conditioning, telephone, hairdryer, television and a mini-bar.
Hotel Location and Facilities:
The hotel is directly on Passeig de Gracia. This is one of Barcelona’s most picturesque streets - it is popular for its old buildings and lined with ornate old street lamps. It is also the home of two of Gaudi’s most famous buildings – La Pedrera and Casa Batlló. Both are open to the public to view the inside. Casa Batlló is the smaller of the two. It has an ornate roof that has the appearance of a colourful dragons tail. The lines of the building are organic and the balconies are distinctive in style.

La Pedrera is also based slightly further up Passeig de Gracia. This is Gaudi’s sea-inspired building. It is worth paying the entry price to get onto the roof of the building. The roof itself is beautiful; with an undulating walk way and a scary central drop. It also offers 360 degree views of the city.

Passeig de Garcia is famously the home of some of Barcelona’s best shopping opportunities. The street is awash with designer stores including Loewe, Gucci, Prada and Chanel. Even if you have no money spare for expensive bags and shoes, it is fun to do some window shopping and to watch the glamorous people making their big purchases.
At the bottom of Passeig de Gracia - less than 5 minutes walk from the hotel, is Plaza Catalunya. This large square sits at the top of the Ramblas – Barcelona’s famous street for people watching. It is also a convenient place to find amenities such as internet cafés, bureaus de change, supermarkets and pharmacies.
How to Travel from the Airport to the Hotel:
Via Taxi: A taxi from the airport should take about 25 minutes and cost around 25 – 30 euros depending on traffic and luggage.
Via Train: The RENFE train leaves the airport every half an hour and will take you to Passeig de Gracia in 25 minutes. You can either use the T10 transport ticket from the airport (T10 costs 7.70 euros for 10 separate journeys on Barcelona public transport) or you can buy a single fare ticket for 2.80 euros. The hotel is a 2 minute walk from the station.
