Review Evenia Rocafort Hotel Barcelona

Evenia Rocafort Hotel
Reservation Information For The Evenia Rocafort Hotel

Evenia Rocafort Hotel is located just off Paral.lel, at the top of the area of Raval. It is a standard three star hotel that offers a very convenient location for people attending conferences at the Fira de Barcelona convention centre. However, the local area offers more than just this – Paral.lel is a very local street with some popular little bars and restaurants in its small side streets. Plaza Espanya is also home to the Palau Nacional – Barcelona’s Palace.

The hotel itself is classic – its lobby area has marble floors and low lighting. There is a slightly nautical theme, with a wooden boat shaped front desk and windows on the doors like portholes in a ship. Wide pillars that have been painted silver run through the area.

Hotel Facilities:

There is no pool or gym in the hotel. There is a small restaurant in the hotel that offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. A buffet breakfast is available from 07:00 – 10:30. It costs 8.50 euros (plus tax) per person. At lunch time a set menu (‘Menu del Dia’) is available.

There is no room service available in the hotel. Pets are not allowed.

Short stay (day use) rooms are available subject to availability. They cost 60% of the normal room price.

Check-in time is at 12:00 and check-out time is also at 12:00.

Business Facilities:

There are two meeting/conference rooms in the hotel. One of these has a capacity of 30 people; the other has a capacity of 11 people.

There is Wi-Fi available throughout the hotel free of charge. There are two computers available for use with free internet access. These are in a small business centre just off the lobby area.

Facilities for the Disabled:

There is one room in the hotel that has been adapted for disable use. It has widened doors and a special bath. There are lifts to all floors.

Rooms:

There are a total of 51 rooms in the hotel, over 6 floors. All of the rooms are doubles. There are some rooms that are large enough to fit an extra bed. This is free for children under 12 and is 30 euros for people over the age of 12.

There are no balconies available in any of the rooms. Those who require an especially quiet room should request one at the interior of the hotel.

All rooms include air-conditioning, television, telephone, hairdryer and mini-bar.

There is no room service available.

On the sixth floor of the hotel smoking is permitted. The rest of the hotel is non-smoking.

Hotel Location and Facilities:

Evenia Rocafort Hotel is located just off Avenida Paral.lel. This is a large and very long road that runs from the port area to Plaza Espanya. The hotel is situated towards the Plaza Espanya end of the road. From Calle Rocafort it is possible to take a short five-minute stroll up the pedestrianised Avenida Mistral to Plaza Espanya. This street is tree lined and contains a small park and some nice terraces to enjoy a coffee in the sunshine.

Fira de Barcelona
Fira de Barcelona

Plaza Espanya is the home of the Fira de Barcelona conference centre. It is also the home of the Palau Nacional, Barcelona’s palace. Tourists will enjoy a stroll around the Palace grounds – the back of the Palace leads to the area of Montjuic. This area includes many tourist attractions – the Mirò museum, the Olympic village and Poble Espanyol.

The hotel is also a five-minute walk from the Mercat de Sant Antoni. This is a large roofed market that sells fruit and vegetables – similar to the Boqueria on the Ramblas. On Sundays the market is the site of a large market that forms around the edges of the exterior of the building. The market is specialist and is popular amongst collectors of antique books, comics, records and coins.

On Avenida Paral.lel it is possible to find general amenities that you may need. These include internet cafes, banks, bureaus de change, pharmacies and supermarkets

How to Travel from the Airport to the Hotel:

Via Taxi: A taxi from the airport should take about 25 minutes and cost around 25 – 30 euros depending on traffic and luggage.

Via Train: The RENFE train leaves the airport every half an hour and will take you to Passeig de Gracia in 25 minutes. You can either use the T10 transport ticket from the airport (T10 costs 7.70 euros for 10 separate journeys on Barcelona public transport) or you can buy a single fare ticket for 2.80 euros. You then change at Passeig de Gracia onto the Green Line metro and travel five stops to Poble Sec. Your hotel is then 5 minutes walk from the metro.

Via Bus: Take the 'Aerobus' to Plaza de Catalunya from directly outside the airport. The Aerobus generally runs every 10 - 15 minutes and the journey time is 30 minutes. The hotel is not in walking distance of Plaza de Catalunya. You can take a taxi, which will take about 20 minutes and cost around 15 euros. Alternatively can take the Green Line on the metro to Poble Sec. From here, the hotel is a short 5 minute walk.
