Gran Ronda Hotel, Barcelona is located a 2 minute walk from Plaza Universitat. This sets it at the heart of Barcelona's tourist district. It is a simple 3 star hotel that will appeal to people visiting the city for an action packed holiday of sight seeing. There are only basic amenities, so there is little tempting customers to spend too much time within the confines of their hotel. However, the accommodation is reliably modern clean and comfortable.

The hotel's exterior is standard - a glass door and modern signage welcome guests into a long and thin lobby area. The front desk sits to the right of the space and there is no seating.


Hotel Facilities:

There is no pool or gym in the hotel.

There is a restaurant that serves breakfast. Buffet breakfast is served from  07:30 - 11:00  all week.

There is also no bar in the hotel. However, there is a television room with a computer, sofas, tables and chairs.

Room service is available for breakfast time.

Pets are not allowed in the hotel.

Day use rooms are not available.

There are no meeting rooms in the hotel. Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel free of charge. There is also one computer with internet available free of charge.


Facilities for the Disabled:

There is one room in the hotel that is suitable for wheelchair users. It has widened doors and an adapted bathroom. There are lifts to all floors.


Rooms:

There are a total of 65 rooms in the hotel, over 6 floors. All of the rooms are either singles or doubles. It is possible to add an extra bed to the rooms.

The rooms at the front of the building have balconies. There is double-glazing on all of the windows. However, those hoping for a very peaceful night's seep should request a room at the interior of the hotel.

All rooms include air-conditioning, telephone, hair dryer, television and a mini-bar.

The hotel is located less than 1 minutes walk from Plaza Universitat. This square is the home of some of Barcelona's oldest university buildings. It also leads to the area of El Raval. This area is part of Barcelona's old town - an area that is renowned for its narrow streets and old buildings. El Raval is slowly becoming the hippest part of the old town. It houses many small and independent shop, bars and art galleries. It is also the home of the MACBA (modern art museum) and CCCB (centre of contemporary culture)

The hotel is located a 5 minute walk from Plaza Catalunya. This square sits at the top of the Ramblas - Barcelona's most famous street. Many tourists to Barcelona see the Ramblas as its focal point - the heart of the city. It is also a convenient place to find amenities such as internet cafés, bureaus de change, supermarkets and pharmacies. Plaza Catalunya itself is a large square. It houses El Corte Inglés - a well-known Spanish department store. El Corte Inglés is a shop offering everything from clothes to food and electrical appliances.

The hotel is a 10 minute walk from Passeig de Gràcia. This street is well known for being a popular shopping street and offers large branches of stores such as Zara and Mango. It is also the home of some of Gaudí's most famous buildings. Casa Batlló is a colourful building with a mosaic roof in the style of a dragon's tail. La Pedrera is a building that has been influenced by the sea. The paving stones along the street of Passeig de Gràcia are embossed with an abstract pattern. This is said to be taken from one of the rooms inside La Pedrera and comprises patterns influenced by sea creatures.

If you head away from the Rambla from the hotel you will enter the area of Sant Antoni. A ten minute walk from the hotel is the Mercat de Sant Antoni. This roofed market sells food. Also, on Sundays, around the edges of the market there is a market fro collectors, selling books, comics and stamps.


How to travel from the airport to the hotel

How to arrange your transport from Barcelona Airport in advance of your trip.

You can either arrange a private transfer or minibus shared transfer.

Private Transfer A private transfer is dedicated for you and your party only. The driver will be waiting at your arrivals gate holding a sign with your name on it. Your driver will assist you with your luggage to your own private vehicle and you will be driven directly to your hotel.

Minibus Transfer The shared minibus transfer option is cheaper than the private transfer. Unlike a private transfer you would need to make your way to a dedicated meeting point and the vehicle may be shared with other passengers. You will be taken to your hotel however there may be some stops for other passengers along the way.

Public transport transfer options

Via Taxi: A taxi from the airport should take about 25 minutes and cost around  €25.00  -  €30.00 .

Via Train: The RENFE train leaves the airport every half an hour and will take you to Passeig de Gràcia in 25 minutes. You can either use the T10 transport ticket from the airport (T10 costs  €10.30  for 10 separate journeys on Barcelona public transport) or you can buy a single fare ticket for  €3.80 . From here take the metro to Universitat on the Purple Line, from the metro station the hotel is a 2 minute walk. Alternatively, if you have a lot of luggage a taxi would take 5 minutes and cost €6.00 - €8.00.

Via Bus: Take the 'Aerobus' to Plaza Catalunya from directly outside the airport. The Aerobus generally runs every 10 - 15 minutes and the journey time is 30 minutes. A single will cost  €5.90 . The hotel is a 10 minute walk from Plaza Catalunya. Alternatively, take the metro from Catalunya to Universitat on the Red Line, from here the hotel is a 2 minute walk.
