Gran Torre Catalunya Hotel, Barcelona is a 21 floor skyscraper located next to Barcelona Sants train station. It is a classic 4 star hotel where views from the top floors will provide views overlooking the city.

The lobby area is classic, with a white marble floor. The front desk sits to the left of the lobby area. To the right there is the ‘Lounge Bar’ – a large seating area with a bar in the corner and an atmosphere of business and bustle. Brown, cream and grey leather individual armchairs sit around coffee tables. White leather banquettes line the edges of the room. In the main lobby area screens displaying the restaurant’s amenities play. 

This hotel will appeal to those who enjoy the excitement of its size – it will not suit those hoping for a more personal service. The hotel’s location is likely to appeal to business people who require close proximity to the transport hub or the Fira Barcelona conference centre in Plaza Espanya.

Hotel Facilities:

There is a pool, gym and spa in the hotel. The pool is in the spa area and is open from 14:00 – 22:30 during the week and from 09:00 – 13:00 and 17:00 – 21:00 at weekends. The fitness centre is open every day from 07:00 – 23:00.

There is a restaurant on the top floor of the hotel. Buffet breakfast is served from 07:00 – 10:30 during the week and from 07:00 – 11:00 at weekends. It costs 16 euros per person. Light food is also served in the ‘Lounge Bar’ in the lobby.

Gran Torre Catalunya Hotel, Barcelona is located conveniently for those requiring a close proximity to Barcelona’s main train station – Estacio Sants. This station offers direct trains to Barcelona airport. It also ensures that the rest of Spain is within reach for those who are travelling around the country. The station is also hone to a coach station, from which coaches leave to places such as San Sebastian, Valencia and Madrid.

Miro’s ‘Women with a Bird’

Hipermercado

The hotel is less than 5 minutes walk from the Parc Joan Miro. This park is the home of Miro’s famous ‘Woman with a Bird’ statue. It is also a great opportunity to find some peace and quiet in the city’s business and transport hub. The park is filled with palm trees and dusty floors and is a great place to spend a sunny afternoon.

Plaza Espanya

Located just behind the hotel there is a large supermarket – ‘Hipermercado’. This shop sells everything from food to cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. It could prove useful for supplies during your trip.

The hotel is also a 10 – 15 minute walk from Plaza Espanya – home to the Fira Barcelona. This is one of Barcelona’s largest conference centres and is the site of numerous annual conferences.

How to Travel from the Airport to the Hotel:

Via Taxi: A taxi from the airport should take about 25 minutes and cost around 25 – 30 euros depending on traffic and luggage.

Via Train: The RENFE train leaves the airport every half an hour and will take you to Estacio Sants in 25 minutes. You can either use the T10 transport ticket from the airport (T10 costs 7.70 euros for 10 separate journeys on Barcelona public transport) or you can buy a single fare ticket for 2.80 euros. The hotel is a 1 minute walk from the station.

Via Bus: Take the 'Aerobus' to Plaza Espanya from directly outside the airport. The Aerobus generally runs every 10 - 15 minutes and the journey time is 30 minutes. A single will cost 4.25 euros. From Plaza Espanya take the Green Line on the Metro to Estacio Sants, the hotel is just outside the metro station.
