Guitart Grand Passage Hotel is a distinctive and large hotel in uptown Eixample. Its exterior is futuristic, taking up a large street corner with its many windows forming pole-like shapes at intervals around the edges. Its lobby area is surprisingly small, following the looming presence of the exterior. It is a bright space, with numerous spotlights dotted along the ceiling. Two large square mirrored pillars situated at either side of the front desk break up the area.  Two sets of black lather couches and two spiral staircases add to the symmetrical feel of the space.

The hotel is located two minutes walk from Avenida Diagonal – one of Barcelona’s largest roads, running through the heart of the city to the seafront. It is a 10 – 15 minute walk from areas such as Passeig de Gracia and Rambla de Catalunya – popular for their shops, bars and restaurants. The hotel is located up from the bustling areas of Eixample, allowing peaceful surroundings. This may not appeal to those who wish to be at the centre of the action.

Hotel Facilities:

The hotel does not have a pool, fitness centre or spa. The hotel has both a café/bar area and a restaurant – Sushi Itto and Café Milano. Café Milano offers buffet breakfasts at 14 euros per person - served from 07:00 – 10:30. Lunch and dinner are available in Sushi Itto – a Japanese restaurant serving sushi, soups and noodles.

Room service is available from 12:00 – 24:00.

Check-in time is at 13:00 and check-out time is at 12:00. Rooms are available for day use when possible and cost 50% of the full room price.

Business Facilities:

There are two rooms that are available in the hotel for meetings. One of these has a capacity of up to 80 people; the other has a capacity of up to 40 people.

Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel and is free of charge. There are computers available with internet access. They are charged at 3 euros per 30 minutes.

There are two rooms in the hotel that are suitable for disabled people. They provide widened doors and special bathrooms.

There are a total of 40 rooms in the hotel, over 4 floors. All of the rooms are doubles. It is possible to add an extra bed to the rooms. This will involve a surcharge of 30 euros.

All rooms in the hotel have curved balconies – as is clear from the building’s exterior shape. They are all suite rooms – they have a bedroom and separate living area.

All rooms contain air-conditioning, television with satellite, hairdryer, a safe and a mini-bar.

Smoking is permitted in some of the hotel rooms. It is necessary to request a smoking room when making a booking.

Hotel Location and Facilities:

Guitart Grand Passage Hotel is located at the top end of Eixample. It is a two-minute walk from Avenida Diagonal.  The area of the street that it is closest to contains some large and distinctive office buildings. These include the La Caixa bank building with a revolving floor and another hexagonal building that is dripping with plants from top to bottom. It is also a 5 – 10 minute walk to the large El Corte Inglès department store.

Zara (Passeig de Gracia)

The hotel’s closest metro is Hospital Clinic, a ten-minute walk away. This ensures that all of Barcelona’s areas area short metro ride away. Those who wish to do some walking in Barcelona may need to bring their hiking boots! The Ramblas is a 20 – 30 minute walk from the hotel. However, a walk into Barcelona city centre could prove picturesque – both Rambla de Catalunya and Passeig de Gracia lead to the centre, at Plaza Catalunya (the top of the Ramblas).

Passeig de Gracia is a 15-minute walk from the hotel and is the home of two famous Gaudi buildings – Casa Batlló and La Pedrera. It is also a favourite amongst shopaholics – dotted with major stores such as Zara, Gucci and Prada. Rambla de Catalunya is a leafy, part-pedestrianised street that is popular for its cafés and restaurants with terrace areas.

How to Travel from the Airport to the Hotel:

Via Taxi: A taxi from the airport should take about 25 minutes and cost around 25 – 30 euros depending on traffic and luggage.

Via Train: The RENFE train leaves the airport every half an hour and will take you to Passeig de Gracia in 25 minutes. You can either use the T10 transport ticket from the airport (T10 costs 7.70 euros for 10 separate journeys on Barcelona public transport) or you can buy a single fare ticket for 2.80 euros. You can then change to the metro and catch the Green Line to Diagonal. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from Diagonal metro.

Via Bus: Take the 'Aerobus' to Plaza Catalunya from directly outside the airport. The Aerobus generally runs every 10 - 15 minutes and the journey time is 30 minutes. From here, the hotel is 10 minutes in a taxi that will cost about 8 - 10 euros. Alternatively, you can catch the Green Line on the metro from Plaza Catalunya to Diagonal. The hotel is 10 minutes walk from the metro station.
