Review H10 Raco del Pi Hotel Barcelona
Page Content
Hotel h10 Raco del Pi Barcelona is a four star hotel in the centre of the Gothic Quarter. The location is a viable one for those wishing to experience the excitement of the Ramblas and its surrounding area, but in a location that is slightly less busy. The hotel also aims to offer a sense of respite, with a quiet courtyard area.
It has a small entrance located right next to some of the Gothic Quarter's most picturesque small plazas - Plaza del Pi and Plaza de Josep Oriel. Its interior is small but bright- helped greatly by the free welcome glass of champagne offered to all customers, at whatever time they arrive, day or night!
It is not a particularly good option for families, as there are only two rooms with the option of sleeping three people. However, for smaller groups wishing to enjoy a hotel offering four-star service in a central Barcelona location, the hotel is definitely worth considering, particularly outside of the high season, when room prices are more affordable.
Hotel Facilities:
There is no pool or fitness centre. There is no restaurant. However, there is an area in which buffet continental breakfast is available. The buffet is not included in the room price and costs approximately €10.00 per person.
On arrival the hotel offer a complimentary welcome drink to each customer. A small area is set up at the front desk with a champagne bucket containing chilled champagne, champagne flutes and small bowls of snacks.
There is a bar in the hotel. It is open from 11:00 to 00:00 midnight. At the centre of the hotel there is a courtyard area with an interesting black and white design on the tiled marbled floor. This area may offer welcome respite from the noise and bustle of the Gothic quarter.
Pets are allowed in the hotel as long as they are small!
The check-in time for the hotel is 14:00. The check-out time is 12:00 noon.
The hotel do offer their rooms for day use only. This is dependant on the availability of rooms. The fee for this is between 60 - 80 % of the full price for the room.

There are a total of 37 rooms in the hotel over 4 floors.
All rooms are either single or double. Three of the rooms are known as 'Superior' rooms and can fit three people if necessary.
Each room includes a television, air - conditioning, a mini - bar and a safe.
90% of the rooms in the hotel are non-smoking. There are some rooms spaced sporadically throughout the hotel where smoking is permitted. All communal areas of the hotel are no smoking.
Some of the rooms offer views onto the street outside. These may be quite noisy at night. However, the street is quieter than others in the Gothic Quarter and the rooms have double-glazed windows.
Hotel Location and Facilities:
The hotel is located at the heart of Barcelona's Gothic quarter. This area is well-known for containing some of Barcelona's most beautiful old buildings. Its streets are narrow and normally very busy. The Gothic quarter is the most popular of all of the areas in the old town amongst tourists.
The hotel sits a few meters from Plaza del Pi. This is a picturesque square with a lone orange tree in one corner. It contains some cafés where you can enjoy a cup of coffee on the terrace. It is also the home of the Catalan Gothic old church - the Eglesia de Santa Maria del Pi.

The Square also hosts a farmers market known as the Collectiu d'Artesans de l'Alimentacio. These markets normally take place in 3 - 5 day blocks twice a month. If you are lucky to time your trip to coincide with the market, it is definitely worth a visit. A range of local produce such as honeys, cheeses, patés and herbs are available. And there are always testers on offer!
A few streets away, on Calle Petritxol, there are a few of Barcelona's best 'granjas'. These are small cafés, usually specialising in a Spanish delicacy - churros y chocolate. The delicious doughnut - like treats are dunked into the thickest hot chocolate you are ever likely to see. For more information, please see our review of La Pallaresa.
It can be found about 20 minutes walk from the Barceloneta beach and a five minute walk from the Ramblas. Here you will find many useful amenities such as a large supermarket, internet cafés, bureaus de change, pharmacies and banks.
Hotel h10 Raco del Pi's closest Metro stop is Liceu, on the Ramblas - five to ten minutes walk away.
