Reservation Information For The Hesperia Sport Hotel

Hesperia Sport Hotel, Barcelona cannot provide a star rating. This is due to its status as a spa hotel rather than just a hotel - it is known as an 'athlete's residence'. The hotel forms a part of the Metropolitan club spa and provides three pools, fitness classes, treatments, Jacuzzis and saunas.

From the exterior the hotel is modern with large black blocks separating the windows of the rooms. It sits on a street corner and a gym can be seen on the first floor of the building, giving a clue to what lies inside.

The lobby area is bright white. A large padded white couch surrounds a pillar at the centre of the room. There are white marble floors and a wavy white front desk. A plasma screen showing the news sits behind the front desk. Touches of detail are added, softening the whiteness - the white lampshades hanging over the front desk are covered in an ornate floral pattern. The vases dotted around the rooms are filled with peacock feather replacing traditional flower displays.

Hotel Facilities:

There is a full spa in the hotel. This offers classes such as yoga and pilates, a treatment centre for facials and manicures a solarium and three pools.

There is a restaurant in the spa area known as 'Metropolitan Bar and Restaurant'. Buffet breakfast is served for €14.98. It is served from 07:00 - 10:30 during the week and from 08:30 - 12:00 noon at weekends. Lunch is served from 13:00 - 17:00 and is a set menu. There is no dinner menu.

There is a bar that is open from 07:00 - 23:00.

Room service is not available. However, the hotel has a special deal with Telepizza pizza delivery company and will place an order for you on request.

No pets are allowed in the hotel.

Smoking is permitted on the fifth floor of the hotel.

Business Facilities:

There is one meeting room available in the hotel. It has a capacity of 25 people.

Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel and is free of charge. There is a computer available in the lobby area with internet, it is charged at €3.00 for 15 minutes.

Facilities for the Disabled:

There are three rooms available for wheelchair users. They have widened doors and an adapted bathroom. There are lifts to all floors.

Rooms:

There are a total of 63 rooms in the hotel over 3 floors. The rooms available are doubles, superiors or family rooms that sleep four. On one side of the building the exterior rooms have balconies.

All rooms are soundproofed. However, those requiring a quiet nights sleep should request the rooms on the highest floors at the interior of the hotel.

All rooms include air conditioning, a safe, a television with satellite, a telephone and a mini-bar.

Hesperia Sport Hotel, as its name suggests, is located within 3 minutes walk of Sagrada Familia. This is the famous church that was designed and begun by Gaudi prior to his death. It is a work in progress and can be viewed being built from year to year. One side has Gaudi's original design, whilst the other side has been designed in a more modern style. It is a building unlike any other and one of Barcelona's most popular tourist attractions.

The hotel is located a 15 minute walk from Passeig de Gracia. This street leads up from Plaza Catalunya. It is a wide and elegant street that is lined with ornate street lamps, expensive shops and old buildings. Once you have seen the Sagrada Familia you may be honed on Gaudi and want to see more of these buildings which some are located on Passeig de Gracia - Casa Batlló and La Pedrera.

The hotel's nearest metro station is Verdaguer and is a 3 minute walk from the hotel. This ensures that the whole of Barcelona is in relatively easy reach of the hotel.

Public transport transfer options

Via Taxi: A taxi from the airport should take about 25 minutes and cost around €25.00 - €30.00 depending on traffic and luggage.

Via Train: The RENFE train leaves the airport every half an hour and will take you to Passeig de Gracia in 25 minutes. You can either use the T10 transport ticket from the airport (T10 costs €9.25 for 10 separate journeys on Barcelona public transport) or you can buy a single fare ticket for €3.60. From Passeig de Gracia take the metro on the Yellow Line to Verdaguer, from the metro station the hotel is a 3 minute walk.

Via Bus: Take the 'Aerobus' to Plaza Catalunya from directly outside the airport. The Aerobus generally runs every 10 - 15 minutes and the journey time is 30 minutes. A single will cost €5.30. From Plaza Catalunya take the metro to Passeig de Gracia on the Purple Line and change onto the Yellow Line taking two more stops to Verdaguer, from the metro station the hotel is a 3 minute walk.
