Review
Hotel Gran Via Barcelona
A sumptuous surprise awaits you beyond the door of the Gran Via hotel Barcelona, it was no surprise when I found out that the building used to be a 19th century palace because it still retains so much of its old-school glamour in its original furnishings and art works. Not to mention the beautiful stained glass ceiling above the lobby, and the grand red-carpeted staircase. This combined with the hotel’s excellent location just a 2 minute walk from Passeig de Gracia makes the Gran Via a good choice for anyone.
Hotel Facilities
The hotel Gran Via Barcelona offers parking for its guests 20 metres from the hotel. There are disabled facilities and the hotel has an outdoor terrace garden which measures 500 metres squared and is a lovely place to relax in the sun during siesta time. The hotel Gran via has a restaurant and a TV room. There is also a computer with internet on the landing and 2 telephone booths.
Business Facilities
The hotel Gran Via has a business centre with a computer and printer. There are 3 meeting rooms not including the terrace garden which is also available. 2 of the rooms have a maximum capacity of 125 people, and the third a capacity of 50. The rooms, which area as grand as the rest of the hotel have natural light, TV and fax connections and are equipped with audiovisual resources.
Rooms
The Gran Via hotel Barcelona has made an effort to continue the classic style of furnishings into the bedrooms. There are 53 rooms all with bathroom, heating and air-conditioning. They also have a safe, minibar, and a TV with satellite and canal +.
Hotel Location and Facilities
The Hotel Gran Via has a great location just 2 minutes from Passeig de Gracia and a metro stop of the same name. Passeig de Gracia is one of Barcelona’s most popular streets, always full of people enjoying Gaudi´s buildings and perusing the top-quality shops. Placa Catalunya and Las Ramblas are 10 minutes away on foot. Closer to home there is a bingo hall right next to the hotel! A cash point is just across the road, and next to that is an internet café. If you need any last minute medication then head onto Passeig de Gracia where you will find a pharmacy at number 26. For any food I would go to Corte Ingles which is on Placa Catalunya and is an international department store.
How to travel from the airport to the hotel
Via Taxi A taxi from the airport should take about 25 minutes and cost around 25 - 30 euros depending on traffic and luggage.
Via Train The RENFE train leaves the airport every half an hour and will take you to Passeig de Gracia station, in about 30 mins and costs 2.80 Euros for a single ticket. The hotel is a 2 minute walk from the station.
Via Bus The Aerobus will also take you from the Airport to Catalunya station and costs 4.25 Euros. The journey time is around 30 minutes. Once at Catalunya station you need to catch the green line metro to Passeig de Gracia and the hotel is a 2 minute walk from the station.
