Whilst quite imposing from the outside Hotel Icaria Barcelona does nothing to warn you of the sleek, contemporary design awaiting you inside. The red, silver and black colour scheme gives a sophisticated almost quite oriental feel to the lobby, where the staff are helpful and multi-lingual. The hotel from the outset well deserves its 4 star rating. The hotel also offers you an easy walk to both Barceloneta and Icaria beaches which are only about 10 mins walk away. Hotel FacilitiesThe lobby is large, and incorporates a café and if you walk past the aquarium there is a red, modern piano bar. There is also free, wireless internet in this and every public area of the hotel. On the ground floor is the restaurant which also has a garden terrace. The food is Mediterranean and there is a buffet breakfast available for 14 euros. The Icaria has an outdoor pool and sun terrace for the days you can’t make it to the beach, and a small gym so you have no excuse! If you’re not a gym person then relax and enjoy the sauna and Turkish bath. The reception staff are happy to help organize your sight-seeing, book you into restaurants or onto tours. There is also a supermarket on the ground floor and a pharmacy just outside. Surrounding the complex on every corner are banks with cash points, which you will no doubt need if you are intending on going shopping inside. If you find the breakfast a bit pricey, walk round the corner from the hotel and there is a lovely bakery.
Or perhaps if you feel like a walk during the day then head left down Avenida Icaria and you will wander into Poblenou where you can see how real Barcelonans live and have a coffee in a little Catalan café. How to travel from the airport to the hotelVia Taxi A taxi from the airport should take about 25 minutes and cost around 25 - 30 euros depending on traffic and luggage. Via Train The RENFE train leaves the airport every
half an hour and will take you to Passeig de Gracia station, in about 20
mins and costs 2.60 Euros for a single ticket. You then have to
change here for the Yellow Line Via Bus The Aerobus will also take you from the
Airport to Catalunya station and costs 4.05 Euros. The journey time
is around 30 minutes. From Catalunya you need to change for the Green Line

The
hotel Icaria is located on the wide Avenida Icaria, about 5 minutes
walk from a large complex called Vila Icaria. Here you can go shopping,
have a bite to eat or watch a movie in the 15 screen cinema in English. 
The
Metro stop, Ciutadella Villa Olympica is past the Vila complex,
a 10 minute walk away. At night you may want to do the 10 minute
walk to the Olympic village to sample the varied night-life on offer
there, and it's only 10 minutes to both Icaria beach or the marina area.
