There is no denying that the façade of the hotel Nouvel Barcelona, and the lobby is historically stunning, so I felt a little let down at the interior of the hotel. However it is not without charm, the hotel was packed when I went to visit, probably due to its great location just off Las Ramblas on a popular shopping street.
Hotel Facilities
The hotel Nouvel Barcelona does not have many facilities like a pool or a sun terrace, the size of the old building perhaps does not permit them. However there is an attached restaurant called la Lluna which has recently been restored and renovated and serves international cuisine. There is also a comfortable lounge area in the lobby.
Business Facilities
Hotel Nouvel Barcelona has no business facilities, it is very much for tourists.

There are 54 rooms all have a bathroom, air-conditioning, satellite TV, a direct phone line and a few have a minibar and a safe. Some of the rooms have small balconies overlooking the bustling street below.

It is the location of the Hotel Nouvel Barcelona that is its main advantage point. It is a 2 minute walk to Las Ramblas where you can enjoy the street performers on Barcelona's most famous road. The street on which the hotel is on is narrow and beautiful because it's part of the historic Gothic Quarter and thus the buildings are all old. The street also has some tempting bakeries and cafes, as well as little shops in which to browse. Head in the opposite direction to Las Ramblas and you are heading into the Gothic quarter, the cathedral is a short walk away. However before you get to the cathedral you will find yourself on one of Barcelona's best shopping streets, Avenida Portal de L'Angel. The nearest metro stop is Plaça Catalunya, 5 minutes away, but when everything you want to see is so close I don't suppose the metro is important. There are several cash points and pharmacies nearby on Las Ramblas, as well as a large supermarket called Carrefour Express which is directly opposite as you enter from the hotel's street onto Las Ramblas. Also Corte Inglés which is department store, is just at the end of the street.

Public transport transfer options
Via Taxi A taxi from the airport should take about 25 minutes and cost around €25.00 - €30.00 depending on traffic and luggage.
Via Train The RENFE train leaves the airport every half an hour and will take you to Passeig de Gràcia station, in about 25 minutes and costs €3.80 for a single ticket. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the metro.
Via Bus The Aerobus will also take you from the Airport to Catalunya station and costs €5.75. The journey time is around 30 minutes. You have a 5 minute walk to your the Hotel from the station.

The hotel Nouvel Barcelona is a basic hotel, in an amazing building and very close to many sights of interest. Great for tourists and those who don't mind a bit of noise, very popular with young people.
