Review: Hotel Rey Juan Carlos Barcelona
Ever since its opening before the Olympic Games in 1992 the Hotel Rey Juan Carlos Barcelona has been at the top of its game. With an emphasis on business the hotel recently was voted “Best European Event Hotel” by the UK group Business + Incentives. The attached Royal Fitness Centre also won the Leading Spa Award at the 2004 Convention of Leading Hotels of the World. So as you can see this isn’t just any hotel, this hotel is royalty in the industry.

Garden Restaurant - Out in the exotic landscaped gardens, with the swimming pool as a backdrop there is a romantic restaurant which serves Mediterranean food and a chill out are in summer.

Polo restaurant - This is the casual restaurant that has a buffet as well as menu specialties which you can watch being prepared in the open plan kitchen.
Aris Bar - A smart cocktail bar located in the lobby and styled like a sleek gentleman’s club.
Lobby Bar: Located in the centre of the impressive 16 storey atrium lobby, you enjoy drinks and snacks in a more open environment whilst listening to live piano music every evening. Open daily From 08.00 to 22.00.

Royal Club Fitness & Spa: Comprehensive fitness club & spa with 5.500 metres squared of facilities. These include a Spa where you can enjoy saunas and steam rooms as well as acupuncture, reflexology, shiatsu massage and other leading treatments. There are 2 heated indoor/ outdoor swimming pools. The outdoor one has a submerged hydro massage deckchair! There are classes you can take, my favourite was line-dancing. The beauty salon also has a hairdresser. The gym measure 500 metres squared and has glass panels to let in the maximum amount of daylight. Personal trainers are on hand in the weights room.
There are various rooms available for banquets and weddings and the hotel has its own catering team.

In addition there are 14 rooms available for meetings the smallest being 35 metres squared. Most have direct sunlight and they can be divided by partitions

The Hotel Rey Juan Carlos Barcelona has 5 levels of room from a standard twin/ double up to the Royal Suite. The standard rooms are 30 metres squared and are decorated in a modern fashion. Facilities include: modem/ fax connection, Wi-Fi, dimmers of the lights, temperature control, Satellite TV, minibar, full marble bathroom with separate bath and shower, robe, slippers and a hairdryer.

The Hotel Rey Juan Carlos Barcelona is very near the Palau de Congressos where many important business events take place. It is also not far form the Les Corts financial district. The nearest metro is Zona Universitaria which is 10 minutes away, from there you can take the metro directly into the city centre in 20 minutes.
The hotel is situated next to the Royal Barcelona Polo Club and near the Camp Nou stadium. The Hotel is set back from the busy road Diagonal which is not the most picturesque thoroughfare. Any amenities you need such as a cash point and internet can be provided within the hotel, however for pharmacies and other cafes you will have to take the metro 2 stops to Maria Cristina where there are many cafes, a supermarket, pharmacies and a shopping mall.
How to travel from the airport to the hotel
Via Taxi A taxi from the airport should take about 25 minutes and cost around 25 - 30 euros depending on traffic and luggage.
Via Train The RENFE train leaves the airport every
half an hour and will take you to Barcelona Sants (Estacio
de Sants), in about 25 mins and costs 2.80 Euros for a
single ticket. From here you need to change onto the green line metro to Zona Universitaria.You then have a 10 minute walk to the hotel.
Via Bus You could take the Aerobus cost 4.25 Euros
from the Airport and get off at Placa Espanya from here catch the
green line metro to Zona Univerisitaria. From here the hotel is about 10 mins walk from the station.
