Review: Hotel Rivoli Ramblas Barcelona

Reservation Information For The Hotel Rivoli Ramblas

This page gives you an essential guide to the Hotel Rivoli Ramblas in Barcelona and includes a full description of the hotel facilities and amenities in the area of the hotel.

The first thing you will notice about the hotel Rivoli Ramblas in Barcelona is its impressive façade, art deco in style, towering over La Rambla. The location is paramount, a 5 minute walk from Placa Catalunya and 10 minutes into the heart of the Barri Gotic and the Barcelona cathedral.

Hotel Rivoli Ramblas Facilities

Walking into the hotel the reception is on the right. The reception staff are helpful and are happy to give you directions and advice for your visit

The hall is cool and dark and has some quite bizarre murals painted everywhere. It is actually a piano lounge more than a lobby and boasts a long, curved and very well-stocked bar which has reasonably-priced cocktails.

The highlight of this hotel is its terrace which has panoramic views over Barcelona and is a lovely place to sit and soak up some sun. The terrace is also home to the gym, solarium, sauna and Jacuzzi, perfect for those lazy siesta times!

If you are in Barcelona for business then the hotel has a comprehensive business centre. All rooms are equipped with terminals for computers, TVs, microphones and fax machines.

Also the buffet breakfast is not included and costs an additional 19 euros.

Hotel Rooms

The hotel has 130 rooms, of varying styles (some are modern, some have more traditional touches). There are 10 suites if you really feel like splashing out (a grand suite costs 712 euros). The rooms all have air-conditioning, a mini bar, a safe, satellite TV, phone lines and all are soundproofed so it is easier to ignore the hectic pace of La Rambla on your doorstep.

Nevertheless if you are a light sleeper you might not want to take any chances and book a room at the back of the hotel, which might not get so much natural light but at least it will be quieter. Some rooms also have small terraces. Check in is at 13:00, and check out is at 12:00.

Amenities in the Area

The Boqueria market is but a 4 minute walk down the Rambla (turn left when leaving the hotel), great if you feel like picking up your own breakfast or picnic.

If you don’t feel up to the sensory overload of the market then Carrefour Express, La Rambla ,113, is a large supermarket a few minutes down the Rambla on the other side.

The internet café Easynet, La Rambla, 31, is on the other side of the road near Drassanes metro. This costs 1.45 euros an hour and is nicely air-conditioned. However be careful because this place is rife with bag snatching. Otherwise there are lots of internet cafes in the Raval which are a lot cheaper but more cramped.

There is a bank and cash machine right on the street front of the hotel.

Hotel Location

The wax museum is worth a look in and is at the bottom of the Rambla on Pasaje de la Blanca, 7, just turn left and keep on walking. Attached to the museum is also a charming little café/bar called Bosques de los fades (Forest of Fairies) which is full of wax trees and fairy lights, really lovely for an early evening drink.

Behind the hotel is Ave. Portal d´Angel, one of Barcelona’s best shopping streets. It also conveniently leads you past the Dali museum and to the Cathedral.

How to get to Hotel Rivoli Ramblas from the Airport

Hotel Rivoli Ramblas is right in the centre of town. A taxi from the airport should take about 25 minutes and cost around 25 euros depending on traffic and luggage and time of travel.

The easiest way would be to catch the aerobus which costs 4.25 Euros and will take you to Placa Catalunya in just over 30 minutes, from where you have a 5 min walk to your hotel.

The RENFE train leaves the airport every half an hour and will take you to Passeig de Gracia, in about 25 minutes and you can use the T10 ticket from the airport or you can pay a single fare of 2.80 Euros. From Passieg de Gracia you can catch the metro one stop to Placa Catalunya and you can walk to the Rivoli Ramblas Hotel in 5 minutes.

In a nutshell

All in all this hotel is perfect for a short city break in relative luxury. The terrace is amazing and is by far the highlight of the hotel. The hotel is not cheap but at least it has the facilities you would expect from a 4 star hotel of this price. Its location means you will be in close proximity of all the attractions in the city centre and a short walk from the beach. A good hotel for those on holiday or on business.
