This hotel Senator Barcelona is a little way out of town, near the Camp Nou Barcelona FC football ground, but it’s worth staying there for the ambience and facilities of the hotel itself.  The pièce de résistance being the hotel’s spa which is as inventive and original as a spa can be - perfect for those not so sunny days.

Hotel Facilities

The overriding noise you hear when entering the Hotel Senator is water for the many fountains and water features scattered over the ample lobby area. In the lobby you will find a café/ bar area with lots of comfortable seating, and a piano for live music in the evening.  There is a drinks machine, a cigarette machine and even a cash point.  The glass-fronted, turquoise painted restaurant is attractive and has a reasonably priced menu of Mediterranean specialties.  Last but not least the Acquaplaya Spa which is where you can relax in a grotto-like fruit bath, or a eucalyptus sauna.  There is also an outdoor swimming pool which is open during the summer months and has good views over Barcelona.

Business Facilities

There are 4 meeting rooms at the hotel Senator, which together cover 1000 metres squared of space for your functions.  All the rooms are fully equipped with the latest in audio-visual aids.  There is also a business centre.  Here you will find room for a small meeting of up to 10 people, as well as an office with computer, printer and copier.  Translation and secretarial services are also available.

The hotel Senator Barcelona has 213 rooms and a whole non-smoking floor.  The rooms have been soundproofed even though the hotel is located in a quiet residential area, so you are guaranteed a good nights sleep.  The rooms also feature univocally controlled air-conditioning, reclinable beds with a choice of pillow, an iron, a CD player, a coffee-maker bathrobes, and a free minibar or soft drinks and beer.  The TV has 35 channels and pay per view and there is a safe.  None of the rooms have a particularly special view but most get a good amount of natural sunlight.

Hotel Location and Facilities

The hotel Senator Barcelona is located in a residential area, set a little bit back from the road and surrounded by very well-kept apartment blocks.  This means that most amenities are within close reach, in fact there is a bank and a pharmacy just next to the hotel, as well as a cash point inside the lobby.  Cardenal Reig is the road on which the hotel is situated and it leads right down to the Barcelona FC football stadium, Nou Camp.  Along this road you will also find a good variety of cafes, restaurants, shops, banks and more pharmacies.  The metro station Collblanc is roughly 10 minutes walk away and will take you into the centre of town, Diagonal, in 15 minutes.  The Sants Station is also quite close by,  just 3 stops away by metro.

How to travel from the airport to the hotel

Via Taxi A taxi from the airport should take about 25 minutes and cost around 25 - 30 euros depending on traffic and luggage.

Via Train The RENFE train leaves the airport every half an hour and will take you to Barcelona Sants (Estacio de Sants) , in about 25 mins and costs 2.60 Euros for a single ticket. Then change at Sants for the Blue line Metro and get off at Collblanc. The hotel is about 3 mins walk from the metro.

Via Bus You could take the Aerobus cost 4.05 Euros from the Airport and get off at Placa Espanya. From Espanya you need to walk to the metro which is only a 1 minute walk from the bus stop. You then need to take the Green Line metro to Sants Estacion and then change at Sants for the Blue line and get off at Collblanc. The hotel is about 3 mins walk from the metro.

In a Nutshell

The Hotel Senator Barcelona is a spacious, welcoming and original hotel.  Out of Barcelona city centre but worth a look because of it’s atmosphere and facilities (Spa!)  Best for those here on business and those who don’t mind a bit of a journey into town.
