The Majestic Hotel Barcelona has been going since 1917 and on first sight of its neo-classic façade it definitely lives up to its name. The Hotel Majestic is impressive and has the one of the most privileged addresses in Barcelona.

The hotel has a luxurious feel from the moment you walk into the chandelier-adorned lobby. However unlike in many high-class establishments the staff are friendly, helpful and not in the least bit intimidating.

Majestic Hotel Rooms

The Hotel Majestic has 303 rooms, including 30 suites, and can count diverse characters such as famed writer Mario Vargas Llosa and the Dalai Lama as past guests. The classic rooms are about 20m2 and have a queen size bed, a minibar, a safe, internet, TV with pay per view, and marble bathrooms with hairdryer. The rooms are all decorated in a classic, luxurious style but have all the modern amenities expected of a 5 star hotel. Many of the rooms also have a balcony over looking Passeig de Gracia, which is beautiful day and night.

Check in is at 15:00 and by check out at 12:00 I can promise you won’t want to leave!

Hotel Facilities

A wonderful terrace at the top of the Majestic hotel
A sunny terrace at the top of the Majestic hotel with wonderful views of the city.

The Majestic Hotel Barcelona facilities include the Piano Bar which was full of well-dressed people when I visited mid-afternoon. The Drolma restaurant has a Michelin star and there is a business centre with 5 Pcs, printers, fax, shredder and photocopier. If you have forgotten any office supplies you can also buy everything you might need.

However what makes the Hotel Majestic special, and what sets it apart from competition is the views from the roof terrace. On the terrace you can shower whilst looking at Gaudi´s Casa Batlló, swim in a pool looking out towards the sea or just relax on the deck chairs, soak up the sun and enjoy staring down at the buzzing Passeig de Gracia below.

There is also a gym with a free personal trainer at your disposal, a pool bar, a sauna and a steam room, and you can even book a massage to help you wind down from a busy day in Barcelona.

Majestic Hotel Location

Hotel Majestic is situated on what is commonly thought of as the most beautiful and sophisticated streets in Barcelona, Passeig de Gracia, which is also home to Gaudi´s masterpieces, La Pedrera and Casa Batlló. On this street you will also find high-class shops such as leather experts Loewe, and designer stores such as YSL and MaxMara, all about a 3 minute walk away.

Majestic Hotel Barcelona is perfectly situated, you are right in the centre of the city and most of the sights are within easy walking distance. Placa Catalunya and La Rambla are a 10 minute walk, the Gothic Quarter with its beautiful cathedral is about a 20 minute stroll from the hotel. However if you are feeling lazy the Passeig de Gracia Metro (Green Line, L3) is 2 seconds away and from there you can visit sights like La Sagrada Familia. That is if you haven’t had your fill of Gaudi, Casa Batlló is 2 minutes across the road and La Pedrera is up the road at no. 92.

Everything you might need is a stone’s throw away. There are cash points every block, a pharmacy on next corner, and of course, shops galore. Also if you need to go further, then the hotel offers convertible smart roadsters, complete with GPS!

How to get from the Airport to Majestic hotel

Taxi: Of course the easiest and quickest option is a taxi which can take you straight to Passeig de Gracia in 25 minutes and costs around 20-25 euros.

The RENFE train leaves the airport every 30 minutes and costs 2.60 for a single. It will take you to Passeig de Gracia in about 25 minutes. The hotel is across the road.

The Aerobus also will take you to Catalunya and costs 3.90 Euros and takes half and hour. At Catalunya a walk to the hotel takes 10 minutes, or get onto the metro and go up one stop to Passeig de Gracia which is just outside the hotel.

The hotel provides 5 star service right in the centre of the city, in one of the most classy areas of Barcelona, making it perfect for business or pleasure.
