|Reservation information for the Pensión Miami|
The hotel itself is very simple. It is tucked away down a small side street towards the top of Calle Joaquin Costa, just before Plaza de la Universitat. It is necessary to ring a bell to be let into the building. The lobby area is small but clean, if slightly lacking in natural light. In general, the pensión staff are friendly and helpful in answering questions.
The pensión provides accommodation for travellers looking for an affordable place to lay down their head in a central Barcelona location. Its lack of 'frills' allows it to maintain low prices in the town centre. Based in Raval, less street-wise travellers should ensure that they are cautious in coming to and from the hotel. However, it is a well-located, clean and affordable option.
There is no pool or gym in the hotel. There is no restaurant or bar. The reception desk is open 24 hours.
Check-in time is from 13:00 and check-out time is at 12:00 noon.
There are no meeting or conference rooms in the hotel. There is also no internet access available.
There are no rooms in the hotel that are suitable for disabled people.
There are a total of 38 rooms in the hotel. Rooms in the hotel are Doubles, Twins or Triples. It is possible to order an extra bed for the rooms at a surcharge of €30.00. There are also free cots available for the rooms on request.
Most of the hotel rooms face a small street. There are no balconies. However, the pensión is close to a larger street that is popular for its bars. Those wishing for a more quiet night's sleep should request an interior room.
All rooms provide air-conditioning, a radio and a colour television.
The hotel is located just off Calle Joaquin Costa. This is a lively street that is popular amongst Barcelona locals. During the day it offers many shopping opportunities, from fruit and vegetables to clothes and records. Chandal is a shop offering all things retro, such as seventies style telephones, dinner sets and models of characters from eighties films. It also contains a small clothing section and a selection of records.
Betty Fords is a bar, also on Calle Joaquin Costa. It is small and personal, with friendly staff and comfy banquette seating. It is popular in the day amongst those looking for a quiet drink or hungry for one of their famous burgers. At night it comes alive and is packed with a fashionable crowd who come in search of well-made cocktails.
Just opposite the pensión there is an interesting bar called Frutti Pop. It offers a kitsch style - the walls are adorned with pictures of old film icons, the bar is backed by red curtains and various chandeliers hang from the walls and ceiling. It is popular on weekday evenings when local DJs offer an eclectic music selection.
|Frutti Pop||Plaza de la Universitat|
At the top of Calle Joaquin Costa you will find Plaza de la Universitat. This is home to many of Barcelona's main University buildings. It is a busy and large square that is joined to Plaça de Catalunya, at the top of the Ramblas.
The pensión is a ten-minute walk from the top of the Ramblas. This is a centre of much of Barcelona's touristic activity. It is also a place where you will find many necessary amenities, such as pharmacies, banks, internet cafés, supermarkets and bureaus de change.
You can either arrange a private transfer or minibus shared transfer.
Private Transfer A private transfer is dedicated for you and your party only. The driver will be waiting at your arrivals gate holding a sign with your name on it. Your driver will assist you with your luggage to your own private vehicle and you will be driven directly to your hotel.
Minibus Transfer The shared minibus transfer option is cheaper than the private transfer. Unlike a private transfer you would need to make your way to a dedicated meeting point and the vehicle may be shared with other passengers. You will be taken to your hotel however there may be some stops for other passengers along the way.
You can reserve both the private or the shared transport by following this link:
Via Taxi: A taxi from the airport should take about 25 minutes and cost around €25.00 - €30.00.
Via Train: The RENFE train leaves the airport every half an hour and will take you to Passeig de Gràcia in 25 minutes. You can either use the T10 transport ticket from the airport (T10 costs €9.95 for 10 separate journeys on Barcelona public transport) or you can buy a single fare ticket for €4.10. You then change at Passeig de Gràcia onto the Green Line metro and travel one stop to Catalunya and then change on to the Red Line to Universitat. Your hotel is then 2 minutes walk from the metro. Alternatively you can take a taxi, which will take about 5 minutes and cost about €6.00 - €8.00.
Via Bus: Take the 'Aerobus ' to Plaça de Catalunya from directly outside the airport. The Aerobus generally runs every 10 - 15 minutes and the journey time is 30 minutes. The hotel is 10 minutes walk from Plaça de Catalunya. Alternatively, you can catch the metro from Catalunya to Universitat, just one stop on the Red Line, from where the hotel is a 2 minute walk.
Pensión Miami provides clean accommodation and friendly staff to holiday-makers who plan on spending little time in their room. It is located in a lively and interesting area that some may find slightly seedy at night. An option for the seasoned traveller.
