Hotel NH Duc de la Victoria on La Rambla Barcelona

Duc la Victoria Hotel in Barcelona
Reservation Information For The NH Duc De La Victoria

Located on a quiet street just 3 minutes off La Rambla, NH Duc de la Victoria Barcelona is a 3 star hotel offering good basic accommodation for a weekend stay. There are 156 rooms and 6 junior suites, and the hotel has added nice touches like giving a choice of pillow filling! There is also very good disabled access.

Hotel Facilities

The hotel facilities include laundry, bike rental (which is a great idea), parking and a Mediterranean restaurant which has a la carte lunch and dinner on weekends, and a buffet breakfast in the morning.

There are also 2 good-sized, fully equipped conference rooms, which accommodate 8 - 35 people, and rather brilliantly a technology helpdesk!

Hotel Rooms

The rooms all have TV with Canal +, a mini bar, air-conditioning and a telephone. The décor is unfussy and very hotel-like (frosted glass, blue cloth headboards), but comfortable. I went to the hotel in the afternoon and the street was in the shadows, meaning that the rooms facing out the front of the hotel probably have little natural light, but then none of the rooms have a great view or anything, this is a hotel to sleep well in but that’s all really. Check in and out time is noon.

Hotel Location

One of the best things about this hotel is the location. It’s off a shopping street Calle Portaferissa which in turn is just off the busiest street in Barcelona: La Rambla. So you are still very much in the centre of the action but have the option to escape into the quiet and relative tranquility of a back street.

A guest I spoke to was very pleased with the hotel’s “lovely, quiet location”. Others complained about the unhelpful reception staff but I found them to be fine.

Small green square clost to Duc la Victoria Hotel in BarcelonaThe street on which the hotel is situated has lots of very trendy boutiques catering for men women and trainer junkies both on that street and on Portaferissa. Also just round the corner you have Placa Vila de Madrid which has just been renovated and now is a lovely place to sit and have coffee. It´s a favourite for couples who go to lay about on the undulating grass mounds.

Keep walking down Calle Portaferissa and you will go through lots of great shopping areas until you arrive at the cathedral. Go down Portaferissa the opposite direction, cross La Rambla and head down Calle Carem and you will find yourself in the heart of El Raval with all its great cafes, beautiful squares and museums including MACBA and CCCB.

Also from Hotel NH Duc de la Victoria Barcelona it is an easy walk (about 20mins) to the area of El Born, which has some beautiful old buildings, is very trendy and is home to the Picasso Museum (1km away), and reputedly one of the best pizza restaurants in Barcelona (Pizza del Borne).

Amenities close to the hotel

Three minutes walk away you have La Rambla and delights such as La Boqueria market and the Liceu theatre. The closest metro is Liceu although you are in easy walking distance of Placa Catalunya, where you will find a taxi rank and several bus stops, or indeed Drassanes metro stop down at the bottom of La Rambla. You will have not problems finding cash points along the Ramblas as there are dozens along its full length.

How to get to Hotel Victoria from the Airport

Taxi Hotel Victoria Barcelona is right in the centre of town. A taxi from the airport should take about 25 minutes and cost around 25 euros depending on traffic and luggage and time of travel.

The RENFE train leaves the airport every half an hour and will take you to Passeig de Gracia, in about 25 minutes and you can use the T10 ticket from the airport or you can pay a single fare of 2.80 Euros. From Passeig de Gracia you need to change for the Green line metro to Liceu and walk to the NH Duc De La Victoria Hotel in 5 minutes.

Aerobus The easiest way would be to catch the aerobus which costs 4.25 Euros and will take you to Placa Catalunya in just over 30 minutes, from where you have a 5 min walk to your hotel.

In a nutshell

As with many city centre hotels you tend to sacrifice space for location, however that is not to say you have to sacrifice any level of comfort. Hotel NH Victoria de la Duc is not the most fancy hotel in the world but it is very well equipped to provide a happy stay either for business or pleasure. The location is one of the best, making the hotel a excellent base from which to explore the city.
