Review Silken Ramblas Hotel Barcelona
This hotel is very popular, when I went there were coach loads of people teeming in the calm and cool lobby, and it is no wonder because the hotel has a great location, just off Las Ramblas in a quiet street. The hotel has good facilities for a central hotel, and during its early days during the 1992 Olympics the hotel was host to the famous basketball “dream team”.
Hotel Facilities
The Silken Ramblas hotel restaurant serves local and international cuisine, mostly sourced from the nearby Boqueria market. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner every night. At the reception you can book tours and tickets. There is also a currency exchange, and the hotel will help you arrange transfers to the airport or to hire a car with or without a driver. There is a small gym at the hotel and a large sun terrace with a swimming pool, whirlpool and sauna. The Silken Ramblas has its own car parking. There is also a stunning bar in the lobby area where you can have a cocktail or two and be relaxed by the tranquil music and the sound of the water feature before heading out to sample Barcelona’s famous nightlife.
Business Facilities
The Silken Ramblas hotel welcomes you to make use of its 3 function rooms and large terrace, which can hold from 30 to 250 people. All the meeting rooms are equipped for computers, televisions and telephones and the hotel can hire you any additional equipment. The rooms are all air-conditioned and sound-proofed.
Rooms at the Silken Ramblas Hotel
The Silken Ramblas hotel Barcelona has 105 rooms which are all soundproofed which should guard against most of the noise, but you are in the very center of the city, and the city is very noisy! The rooms are modern and comfortable and are all air-conditioned. They are also equipped with a safe, a TV with pay per view and some international channels, a minibar and direct phone lines. The rooms at the top of the hotel will get the most sunlight.
Hotel Location and Facilities
The location of the hotel can’t be faulted, the hotel is 3 minutes off Las Ramblas, Barcelona’s most famous, bustling street. The hotel is in the area known as the Raval which is what some people call “real” Barcelona. The area has been improved and is now full of trendy bars, and little cafes with menu del dias (set menus with 3 courses for 6-9 euros) for lunch. You are a 5 minute walk from the MACBA which is Barcelona’s architecturally impressive museum of modern art. The nearest metro stop is Liceu on La Ramblas which is a 5 minute walk away, and if you want to stock up on fresh food then just next to the metro stop is the sensory overloads that is the Boqueria market. There is also big Carrefour Express supermarket very close on Las Ramblas, and if you need the internet just head into Raval and there are lots of cheap ones to choose from.
How to travel from the airport to the hotel
Via Taxi A taxi from the airport should take about 25 minutes and cost around 25 - 30 euros depending on traffic and luggage.
Via Train The RENFE train leaves the airport every half an hour and will take you to Passeig de Gracia, in about 25 mins and costs 2.60 Euros for a single ticket. You then have to change here for the Green Line Metro to Liceu which is only two stops up. The hotel is a short 5 minute walk from the metro.
Via Bus The Aerobus will also take you from the Airport to Catalunya station and costs 4.05 Euros. The journey time is around 30 minutes. From Catalunya you need take the Green line metro to Liceu or if you don't mind a walk you have 12 mins to the hotel.
In a Nutshell
A den of tranquility in the hectic centre of Barcelona. A great place to be able to escape into at the end of a busy day. Good for tourists and business people, the hotel is always full.
