Splendom Suites Aparthotel offer something a little bit different – apartments in the centre of the city with hotel style services. Each room includes a bedroom and living area, plus a small kitchen. In contrast to other companies offering similar services, Splendom Suites are decorated in a modern style and appear to have been renovated very recently. Splendom Suites Aparthotel are located at the centre of Eixample. They are in ten minutes walking distance of some of Barcelona’s most attractive destinations – including Rambla de Catalunya and Passeig de Gracia. Some visitors to the city may prefer accommodation closer to the heart of the action, however the location may appeal to those who enjoy a peaceful location, with the tourist spots within easy reach. The hotel’s lobby area is very small and cosy – almost like a living room in a home. There is a white fireplace with couches and clear plastic design chairs surrounding it. There is even a small Nespresso machine for coffees. The small office-style front desk sits behind this and friendly staff are eager to help. The hotel will appeal to families, with rooms that accommodate up to four people. Facilities also include a free ‘Friendly Family Kit’ with high chairs, cots and baby changing tables. Hotel Facilities:The Aparthotel does not have a pool, fitness centre or spa. The aparthotel does not have a restaurant. However, it has a small cafeteria in its reception area, where there is a Nespresso machine and a small selection of crisps and snacks on sale. The Aparthotel also offers the ‘Welcome Pack’. This means that, on request, drinks and food can be placed in the fridge in your room for your arrival. It is also possible to request specific utensils for the kitchen in your room. These can include items such as woks and chopsticks. Also, remember not to chuck away any food that is remaining in your fridge at the end of the stay. Aparthotel staff pledge to take leftover items such as pasta, yoghurts, juices, oil and salt to ‘Helping Meal’ social dining halls around Barcelona for those who cannot afford to buy their own food. Times for check-in and check-out are flexible. Business Facilities:There are no meeting rooms in the Aparthotel. However, Wi-Fi is available throughout the Aparthotel and is free of charge. The Aparthotel also offers monthly corporate rates – they should be contacted directly for more details. Facilities for the Disabled:There are no rooms that are suitable for disabled people. Rooms:There are a total of 11 rooms in the Aparthotel. Suites available are either one or two rooms, of between 50 – 70 metres squared. All rooms have either a balcony or a terrace. Rooms are available to sleep up to 4 people. The ‘Friendly Family Kit’ is available free of charge. This includes a high-chair, cot, baby changing table and toys. Despite the apartment style of the Aparthotel there is still a daily room cleaning service. All rooms contain air-conditioning, satellite LCD television, a safe, a telephone and a DVD player on request. All rooms have kitchens with a fridge, microwave, washing machine and coffee maker. The entire Aparthotel is no smoking.
Hotel Location and Facilities:Splendom Suites are located a ten minute walk from Plaza Universitat. This is the home of some of Barcelona University’s largest buildings. It also leads to Plaza Catalunya and the Ramblas. For many this is the touristic centre of Barcelona – a place gravitated to as the staring point for a tour of Barcelona. The Ramblas is worth checking out for the street entertainers and souvenir shops. It is also a useful place to find necessary amenities such as internet cafés, banks, pharmacies, bureaus de change and supermarkets. A five-minute walk from the Aparthotel, on Calle Mallorca, is the Mercat del Ninot. This is the perfect place to buy all of the necessary ingredients to cook a meal in your kitchen. The market is popular amongst locals as well as tourists – a sure sign that the standard of the products on offer is high.
The Aparthotel is a ten-minute walk from Rambla de Catalunya. This is the home of a Taller de Tapas - tapas chain in Barcelona. It offers a large selection of tapas in attractive surroundings – exposed brick walls and dim lighting. It also has an outdoor terrace area for sunny afternoon snacking. Passeig de Gracia is also less than fifteen minutes walk from the Aparthotel. This is one of Barcelona’s most iconic streets. It is wide and lined with ornate old wrought iron lampposts. It is also a popular shopping destination, with many major stores on the strip including Zara, Prada and Gucci. For those more interested in culture two of Gaudi’s famous buildings can be found on this street – La Pedrera and Casa Batlló. How to Travel from the Airport to the hotel:Via Taxi: A taxi from the airport should take about 25 minutes and cost around 25 – 30 euros depending on traffic and luggage. Via Train: The RENFE train leaves the airport every half an hour and will take you to Passeig de Gracia in 25 minutes. You can either use the T10 transport ticket from the airport (T10 costs 7.70 euros for 10 separate journeys on Barcelona public transport) or you can buy a single fare ticket for 2.80 euros. The Aparthotel is a 10 minute walk from the station. Via Bus: Take the 'Aerobus' to Plaza Universitat from directly outside the airport. The Aerobus generally runs every 10 - 15 minutes and the journey time is 30 minutes. From here the Aparthotel is a 10 minute walk. Alternatively it is a short 5 minute taxi ride that will cost around 5 - 6 euros.
