Hola This month has been a hotch potch of discoveries for me, so in this newsletter I will be delivering a review of a Catalan restaurant, some information on the Palau de la Musica and music festival information. This month I made a new discovery of a great restaurant in Barcelona. Having done a great deal of research into Catalan foods for A Beginner’s Guide to Authentic and Typical Catalan Cuisine that I was writing, I thought that it was time to do some real research and get tasting! Everybody who I asked had a different answer as to where they thought served the best Catalan cuisine in Barcelona. However, one name stuck in my head – probably due to the fact that I had wanted to try it since the first day I moved the Barcelona. Senyor Parrellada is a great restaurant for many different reasons. To find out what I thought check: A Review of Senyor Parellada Restaurant in Barcelona Another great highlight of this month has been a concert that I went to. David Byrne from The Talking Heads was playing in the Palau de la Musica. This is one of Barcelona’s most beautiful and ornate buildings and it plays host to some of the most interesting concerts in town. It has already featured on the our site about classical music. However, if you are not really into classical music, don’t write it off as not for you. The Palau de la Musica put on a really wide variety of interesting acts. And even if you’re not particularly interested in the music, sitting in the concert hall and taking in your surroundings is an experience all by itself. Whilst on the topic of music, musos from all around the world should be seriously thinking about booking flights to Barcelona for the weekend of 28th May. This is when Barcelona’s Primavera Sound music festival will be taking place – a popular festival for underground and independent music. And for those of you who have given up on festivals due to the rain, toilet queues and putting your tent up in the dark, this is the festival for you. The venue is the Forum – a seaside location with not a campsite to be seen. And if you’re not already tempted enough, this year Sonic Youth and Neil Young are heading the bill. They will be joined by everybody from A Certain Ratio to Bloc Party to DJs such as A-Trak and Simian Mobile Disco. For more information check the Primavera Sound website. Primavera Sound is the first in a long and exciting run of Barcelona festivals that I am looking forward to this summer. Over the coming months I will be providing information on upcoming music events in the city. Tune in next month to find out more about Sonar electronic music festival. Barcelona Hotel Special Offers
