This month I’ve prepared this small special report newsletter in honour of the great Sonar Music Festival in Barcelona. Sonar is one of Barcelona’s most famous music festivals, and, for many people, their annual reason for heading to the city. I’ve always loved Sonar, but it has taken me years to get my head around all of the practicalities involved in coming to the event. For this reason, I’m eager to share my hard earned knowledge on the site! I’ve covered what I think are the most important elements of a Sonar trip. Aside form the line-up for 2009 (of course!), I have also provided details on how to get tickets, how to get to the festival sites, where to stay and where to eat.

If you are thinking of going to the festival, my major advice is to move quickly on getting things booked. Single day tickets are already close to selling out, and Barcelona is a small city so accommodation options are limited. If you are looking for apartments in the city, bear in mind that surcharges of up to 30% are often added to the normal rental price.
