Q: I  have purchased flight tickets to Girona and had not realised how far from Barcelona this was. I am looking for accommodation in Barcelona that is near the beach but not to far from Barcelona centre so it is not to difficult for me to get back to Girona for my early flight home. I know I can get a bus from Girona to Barcelona and back to coincide with my flight but am unsure as to the best place to stay and I go next week help!

A: The area that is close to the Barcelona beaches is Barceloneta.   Barcelona Nord Bus Station is not too far away from this area and it would take about 10 minutes in a taxi to travel there from Barceloneta. Or you could take the metro from Barceloneta to Urquinaona metro station and from this station change to the Red Line metro and get off at Arc De Triumf where Barcelona Nord Bus station is situated.  You can plot your journey on the Barcelona Metro using our Barcelona Metro Map. 

Another Area is El Born which is not as close to the beach as Barceloneta but the beach is only a short 10 minute to 15 minute walk away and this area is also closer to the Barcelona Nord bus station however there is no readily accessible metro link actually in El Born so you would have a walk to the nearest metro of about 10 to 15 minutes first (depending where you are in El Born) or catch a taxi to the Barcelona Nord Bus station.

There is an excellent metro underground system in Barcelona so you could actually stay anywhere in the city that has a metro stop next to the hotel and it should not normally take you more than 30 minutes to travel to Arc de Triumf station, where Barcelona Nord Bus station is situated, from any other metro station.
