How To Travel By Ferry From Barcelona To The Balearic Islands (Mallorca)?

Q: I would like to know how to travel from Barcelona to Mallorca (Balearic Island) by ship? Where is the ship station in Barcelona? How often do the ships go from Barcelona to Mallorca? Should I book the ticket or I can go to the ship station buying a ticket?

A: There are three operators (Acciona Transmediterranea, Balearia, Iscomar) that offer transfer from the Barcelona port to the Balearic Islands (Mallorca, Minorca or Ibiza) by ferry. There are ferries every day. Please check timetables at the website of each operator. The price varies depending on how you travel, if you have a vehicle with you, special luggage, which accommodation you choose, etc. To buy tickets, we recommend to make your reservation with time. Please see the contact information for all companies below.

Acciona gives the option to buy the tickets per phone, at the ticket office or online. At the website, you can choose the English version by clicking on “ingles” at the homepage.

Acciona Transmediterranea
Estación Maritima, Muelle de San Beltran
08039 Barcelona
Tel: (0034) 90 245 4645
Fax: (0034) 932 959 134
Official Website: http://www.trasmediterranea.es

At Balearia you can purchase your tickets online (although there is not really an English option to the website), via telephone or at their ticket office at the port. On their website you will find detailed timetable information, unfortunately not in English. Therefore it may be best to call them to find out details. Please find the contact details below:

Balearia
Estació Marítima Drassanes, s/n (no street number)
08039 Barcelona
Tel: (0034) 93 324 8982 or (0034) 90 216 0180
Fax: (0034) 93 324 8088
Official Website: http://www.balearia.com/

The third company is Iscomar. They offer a good English version of their website, with all necessary information. You can also book your ticket by phone or at the port's ticket office.

08039 Barcelona
