What are the typical clothes worn by the locals in Barcelona?

Question from site visitor:  (Referring to our "How to dress like the locals" article the site visitor questioned the article´s accuracy)

You say in your article on "Barcelona Clothes" page the following:

"Do not wear shorts in the city, save them for the beach, wearing them elsewhere will label you as a tourist. A skirt or loose-fitting trousers are just as good in the heat and will protect you from the sun."

However from my experience everybody wears short in Barcelona, even at night. Shorts and flip flops are popular, with both sexes. Has this reviewer ever been to Barcelona?

Answer: You have missed the point of the article.  There are hundreds of thousands of *tourists* wearing shorts and flipflops all over the city, during the day and during the night. But that is not what our article is about. The article is about how to dress like the local Catalans who go about their day as normal. The aim of the article is how a tourist can dress like the locals to blend in.

If you walk down La Rambla a great majority of the people wandering up and down are tourists and the same with most of the other tourist areas. If you get off the beaten track to see how the locals dress it is quite different.
