Barcelona Gay Club Guide

Gay Clubs in Barcelona

This page will give you an essential overview of the Barcelona Gay Club scene with full details of some of the most popular Gay clubs in Barcelona.

For information on Gay accommodation and Gay Bars etc see the foot of this page for related links.

Metro
Sepulveda, 185
Metro: Universitat, (Red Line, L1) or (Purple Line, L2) 2 mins walk
Sunday - Tuesday - Wednesday and Thursday from 24:00 to 05:00
Friday - Saturday from 24:00 until 06:00

One of Barcelona’s longest-standing and most popular clubs, a pioneer in the gay scene here. It has 2 rooms, one playing contemporary hits and the other slightly more old-school pop classics. It is 100% gay and has a large dark room and daily performances gay acts, pop groups, drag and sex shows. Thurs night is bingo night! Get there early if you want to avoid a queue, especially on the weekends.

The Arena group of clubs is incredibly popular here and now have 5 clubs in total due to the massive demand. Each caters for slightly different tastes, from mainstream cheese to Spanish pop to a lesbian club.

The Arena clubs are very popular with the straight crowd too, especially VIP.

Arena Sala Madre
Calle Balmes, 32
Metro: Universitat, (Red Line , L1) or (Purple Line, L2) 5 mins walk
Daily 00:30 - 06:00 closed Monday

This is the mother of the Arena clubs, it’s first in Barcelona and it was welcomed from the start! A very comfortable atmosphere, and it has become known for it’s wild shows usually involving a lot of leather and stripping.

Arena Classic
Diputacio, 233
Metro: Universitat, (Red Line , L1) or (Purple Line, L2) 10 mins

This bar/club plays mostly Spanish pop and reputedly attracts the best looking boys.. It welcomes any sort of crazy clothes and behavior! It also caters to a slightly older clientele than next door at Madre.

Arena Diana
Valencia, 236
Metro: Universitat, (Red Line, L1) or (Purple Line, L2) 15 mins walk
Thurs - Sat 13:30 - 03:00

This is a bar club that was specifically designed for the lesbian community, but was soon taken over by clientele of both sexes. It’s amazing friendly “anything goes” atmosphere has meant that it quickly became internationally rated as a bit of a European hotspot for the gay community.

Arena Sala Dandy and Arena Sala VIP
Gran Via, 593
Metro: Psg de Gracia, (Green Line, L3) 3 mins walk

These are the other two under the Arena umbrella, Dandy has a reputation for being the most daring, and VIP the cheesiest

Gay Day at Space
Tarragona, 141-7
Metro Tarragona (Green Line, L3) 1 min walk

On Sunday night only the famous club Space throws it’s door open for Gay Day! Men only, women are not allowed in at all. The music is funky, dance, techno and Latino and my friend Freddie says it’s the best gay night he’s ever been too. A perfect way to end your weekend and welcome in the new week. There are dance shows, strippers and if you can take your eyes off that the decoration in the club isn’t bad either.
