Barcelona beach Hotel - AC Front Maritim

Address Passeig de Gracia Faria, 69 - this road is near Mar Bella Beach and not to be confused with Passeig de Gracia!

You do not have a direct view of the beach from the hotel but the beach is only a few minutes walk.

Review
In June 2004 we stayed for 1 week at Hotel Ac Front Maritim located on P. García Faria and is only a short walk to the Barcelona Beach - Mar Bella.

On arrival (at well after midnight) we found the hotel receptionists most welcoming and throughout our stay very friendly and helpful.

All the Hotel staff we found were most pleasant and did their utmost to make our stay enjoyable.

It is a very spacious and modern hotel with comfortable rooms and air conditioning which we were able to adjust as necessary.

The rooms were thoroughly cleaned (and the cleaning inspected) daily, so were always immaculate.

A range of toiletries were replenished daily along with towels. An unexpected extra were the fridges in the corridors containing bottles of water and soft drinks take as required and large bowls of fresh fruit. All these were free of charge.

In the afternoons between 12:00-17:00 drinks both alcoholic and non or tea and coffee and snacks were available, all free of charge. The freshly made miniature Danish pastries were particularly good.

This Hotel is across the road from the beach and very near the Metro station. It is also on the Green Tourist Bus route, with a stop nearby.

To walk into the city along the sea front is very pleasant and takes about 30 minutes but after a hard days sightseeing it's quicker to take the Metro. Although this hotel is on the main road the rooms are double glazed and therefore very quiet.

I would certainly recommend this Hotel if you want peace and relaxation.

Although I think there is a fitness centre in the basement - we didn't explore that as by the time we usually got back to the hotel we were already knackered!

This is probably the nicest Hotel I've stayed in for all round service and good accommodation and will certainly return.

How to travel from the airport to the hotel

Via Taxi A taxi from the airport should take about 25 minutes and cost around 25 - 30 euros depending on traffic and luggage.

Via Train The RENFE train leaves the airport every half an hour and will take you to Catalunya station, in about 30 mins and costs 2.60 Euros for a single ticket. You then have to change here for the Green Line Metro to Passeig de Gracia and then change onto the yellow line metro. Your nearest metro stop is Selva Del Mar and the hotel is a short 5 minute walk from the metro.

Via Bus The Aerobus will also take you from the Airport to Catalunya station and costs 4.05 Euros. The journey time is around 30 minutes. From Catalunya you need to follow the instructions above for taking the metro.

Editor's note. Thank you for that great Barcelona beach hotel review Anne. There are not many hotels in Barcelona close to a beach so you did well to find this one. Just a point to note that the hotel is a little further out from the centre than other hotels but as you mention there is a metro stop close by so there is good transportation and the ride into the town centre is only 15 mins by metro. The beach you mention in front of the hotel is Mar Bella, an unofficial nudist beach in Barcelona. However only 10 minutes walk further along the sea front is the Playa del Bogatell and Icaria beaches which are normal beaches.
